I mean, listen to Hopkins on “Sir Simpleton”. Absolutely wicked!

Some sources say the 10th, others 11th, so let’s just celebrate the magnificent Fred Hopkins, who was born around this time of October in 1947, all weekend. Play some Air! Or any of the many other recordings he made such significant and memorable contributions to. (📸Tom Copi).

Bill Dixon's recorded output is filled with wondrous music, of course. But as I've mentioned previously, I find the stretch of albums he released on Soul Note between 1980 and 1999 particularly strong. Especially Thoughts (1987) and Son of Sisyphus (1990), both of which are simply astonishing.

One more murder to add to Vladimir Putin's indictment.

Antoni Lallican was not killed in a 'random' bombing attack. He was targeted by the Russians because he sought to report what they fear and hate the most, truth.
