That bloke who does that podcast your annoying friend keeps trying to get you to listen to. He/him. Posts every random thought in his head. AuDHD and not many filters. If you're only interested in my podcast you probably don't want to follow.
Pinned
Now we finally have pinned posts I can pin this and take it out of my profile:
Do *NOT* share screenshots of my posts to my podcast's FB fan group. This is not, for the most part, somewhere I talk about my work, and I don't like personal stuff about me being shared on platforms I'm not on.

Just to confirm since I've already been tagged twice in the six minutes this has been up, yes I have seen it (thanks) ;)
We’re living through crazy times - it’s getting to the point where you can’t even go to an Al Jardine show with Eric Idle without being dragged up on stage to sing “Barbara Ann”!

It's time to end the arguments, they've gone on much too long. Here is the definitive ranking of Star Wars:

1. Star Wars (film, 1977)
2. Star Wars (comic book series, 1977-present)
3. Star Wars (video game, 1983)
4. Star Wars (novelisation, 1976)
5. Star Wars (proposed missile defence system, 1983)

Showrunners Russell T Davies (First of His Name) and Steven Moffat often seemed to be competing to see who could cram the most conceptual entities from this one book into their story arcs

Hey here’s a thought - read the whole fucking article before taking to social media to heap praise all over it?

Just spitballing here.

THIS

It saves a tremendous amount of overhead (money) and time (money) and complications (people who are eligible dropping out because they can't prove they are), but mostly it forecloses an extremely common form of fiscal parental abuse.
Periodically I see people justifying means-testing to ensure The Rich don't get stuff for free when they can afford it.

I see the logic, but we can just tax them more.

Plus, the BIGGEST thing not means-testing solves is

*deep breath*

IT STOPS RICH PEOPLE FINANCIALLY-ABUSING THEIR KIDS ANYMORE.

OK. Upgrading him to 'serious Presidential contender'.
haven’t seen ROS or Solo but this seems like a pretty ball-knowing list from Pritzker, particularly if he volunteered the name “Star Wars” rather than “A New Hope”

Not had a chance to listen to all of Anthology 4 yet, but I did play the last side with the new mixes of the reunion tracks.

Being a child of white boomers in 80s/90s America meant dismissing reggae as boring fratboy music thanks to the ubiquity of Bob Marley's "Legend." Hearing Jimmy Cliff for the first time was a wake-up call. R.I.P. to a real one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7dB...

Looking over the paper, I can see no reason it requires chatbots to do these jobs. This was gratuitous, lazy and should be a discredit to these researchers.

the big problem with that Adversarial Poetry versus AI paper is that they did half the work with chatbots and not humans.

they translated prompts into poems using chatbots.

then they judged how well the poems jailbroke the chatbots using other chatbots to do the judging?!

One of the things that really bugs about this whole thing is that for those of us who need good GPUs for our jobs, they have been made so expensive by all this (and bitcoin etc previously). And now there's loads sitting around unused, but they still drove the price increase and scarcity!
the next big scandal is going to be "gpus sitting in warehouses" i'm sure of it

Clive James writes about how he tried to do the Paul Heinreid thing of lighting two cigarettes to give one to an attractive girl at a party, only for her to say she didn’t smoke, meaning he had to carry on smoking both simultaneously like a walrus.
You know how science invented vaping, for people who want the hit of smoking a cigarette while looking like an absolute dweeb? When will science invent a cigarette for people who don't want to smoke but do want to kid themselves that they are Paul Heinreid in 'Now Voyager'?

I like the It prequel show Welcome to Derry enough that continuing to go after the films feels churlish, but it's amazing to think that It: Part Two, one of the worst movies I've ever seen, could have been even worse
So… Sometimes you have a good interview with a showrunner and they drop a fun kernel of nerdiness off the record. During my IT: WELCOME TO DERRY junket, series co-showrunner Jason Fuchs just dropped an insane bit of IT: CHAPTER TWO original script lore on camera that still has me spinning???

You should wear a mask if you *don't* have symptoms. If you *do* have symptoms you should stay home and not infect anyone else (if you have *any* choice in the matter. Obviously not everyone does.)
UK health officials urge extra precautions, including wearing a mask if you have symptoms, as 4 winter viruses spread: RSV, Flu, COVID and Norovirus.

I heard there was a Cohen song,

And all the Christians got it wrong,

But you don’t really get the meaning do ya?

‘Cause you see its about getting laid,

It’s sex, and love, and Jewish faith,

But all the gentiles heard was “hallelujah!”

especially if you're not good friends, check if the person asked for suggestions before just throwing your instructions for fixing their life out there.
