The parallels between Robert Forster's Sheriff Truman and Robert Duvall's detective in "Falling Down" are incredibly striking and I have no idea whether that's intentional or it's just that Forster and Duvall just have the same presence.

*long drawn out sigh* Actually this new Beach Boys box set sounds fascinating.
They have been releasing massive box sets in chronological order and the most recent one covers those two albums I remember getting through the entire thing, looking at the remainder of the Beach Boys discography and going, "Okay I think I'm good as far as these go."
Same, their early stuff can be listened to endlessly. They were great up to Surf's Up & Holland.

But I think this is partly why "Fire Walk With Me" is a *necessary* corrective to the first two seasons of "Twin Peaks." The cozy murder mystery is no longer so cozy. Laura Palmer is no longer just some abstract symbol but a fully realized woman who went through hell.
