The bad news is that this site is almost certainly filled with feds by now. The good news is that we can give them all fetishes that will absolutely make them question their entire lives. This is the plot to pretty much every Grant Morrison comic by the way.
I think I almost flipped off Tim Burton's "Planet Of The Apes" when the final reveal happened.
fun question: what’s the maddest you’ve ever been leaving a movie theater? not necessarily worst movie you’ve seen, but the one that just pissed you off the most. mine is Batman v Superman

Journalists complaining they can't reach big audiences is the same as authors who come here thinking it's solely a promotional platform for their work. You can't hop on bluesky like "Tis I! The important person you all know & love!" You have to express yourself organically & engage the other people.

the bones of the prequels are fine! it’s an interesting and annoyingly prescient story about the fall of a decadent and corrupt republic into fascism that is terribly executed and full of wooden dialogue

but the clone wars are a cool sandbox to tell stories in

the sequels? actively uninteresting
The prequels were Not Good but there was enough stuff there that they could follow it up with like 200 episodes of The Clone Wars and spinoffs.

My vague memories: Kylo Ren turned good at the end and died because that's what happened to Darth Vader. Ren ended up being the Emperor's daughter or possibly Granddaughter? There was also an obvious deleted scene from "The Last Jedi" because otherwise they couldn't put Leia in the trailers.
I feel comfortable saying Rise of Skywalker was the worst Star Wars because it is the only one I genuinely do not remember enough of it to offer a coherent explanation of the plot. I think a knife and Poe’s ex-wife were somehow involved.
I feel like the harshest condemnation I can offer Episode IX right now is the honest one. I have no idea who Pryde is or indeed if I simply forgot them or if they were fabricated on the internet right now

"Riding With Death" (1976)
a woman posted a pic in a group chat of a baby turkey she bought thinking it was a chicken. She captioned the pic "IS THIS A TURKEY?!?"

Anyway, I haven't been here because I've been yelling IS THIS A TURKEY at everything. You should try it

I can beat that: one of mine was Eminem.
I have a project where I listen to an artist/band’s whole discography to get a better map of their oeuvres. U2 was one of the hardest.

AREN'T THINGS BAD ENOUGH ALREADY YOU GODDAMN MONSTERS?
U2 have emerged from a long hiatus with a surprise six-song EP, 'Days of Ash,' where they address political flashpoints around the world, including ICE raids, the Iranian uprisings, the war in Ukraine, and Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

This is the kind of thing white supremacists have been doing to Emmett Till’s memorial for decades.

It’s wild to see them do this to a white woman who the entire world saw extrajudicially murdered.
Someone doused Renee Good’s Minneapolis memorial and a nearby pile of wood with gasoline and started a fire at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Renee Good memorial site in south Minneapolis doused in gasoline
Damage was minimal but police are investigating.

In today's newsletter I, obviously, talk a lot about the Tony Clark fiasco. First I spend several paragraphs dropping every possible joke about it I can imagine, but I do eventually get to the "what this means" stuff. If you're into that boring stuff. www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...

The trickster archetype pops up over and over again in various cultures and it is very often depicted as being genderfluid. It's a really known thing.

Cassie is one of the most amazing people on this site and seeing how she's been treated by this group of sociopaths has been truly depressing.

It's really just a site full of us cranks shouting "Go away. We don't want any!" and the corporate machinery hasn't figured out a way to assimilate us yet.
I think one of the best things about Bluesky and one of the things that is going to keep it from ever becoming as big as other sites is that everyone here has a real internal mistrust and dislike of people selling us something, either literally for money or for some sort of other gain
I think Bluesky is currently the best social media platform for keeping misinformation to a minimum, maybe because it’s not popular enough to be a target yet

Half the shit my friends, including fellow academics, share on Facebook is made up crap that they believe is real

Threads is atrocious too

"Robocop 2" is probably the most centrist movie ever made. It presents us with a dystopian police state that it slightly disagrees with before focusing on the real problem: self-righteous wokescolds that distract law enforcement from doing its duties.
“Earnestly doing what the original one critiqued” is kind of an unintentionally funny bit
