The bad news is that this site is almost certainly filled with feds by now. The good news is that we can give them all fetishes that will absolutely make them question their entire lives. This is the plot to pretty much every Grant Morrison comic by the way.
Herman Melville dropping the first version of the Worst Social Media Comment.
There is nothing surprising in this.

The trickster archetype pops up over and over again in various cultures and it is very often depicted as being genderfluid. It's a really known thing.

the reason so many rascals and jesters end up trans is because it adds a permanent minigame to your life where the main goal is "getting away with it". appeals to a certain type

How can we be sure that things are more uncertain than ever before?
maybe there's an uncertain chance of something super good happening that's also uncertainty you don't know

Who are the only women who were ever willing to date pre-transition me?
bisexual for women and also this exact kind of man

Cassie is one of the most amazing people on this site and seeing how she's been treated by this group of sociopaths has been truly depressing.

It's really just a site full of us cranks shouting "Go away. We don't want any!" and the corporate machinery hasn't figured out a way to assimilate us yet.
I think one of the best things about Bluesky and one of the things that is going to keep it from ever becoming as big as other sites is that everyone here has a real internal mistrust and dislike of people selling us something, either literally for money or for some sort of other gain
I think Bluesky is currently the best social media platform for keeping misinformation to a minimum, maybe because it’s not popular enough to be a target yet

Half the shit my friends, including fellow academics, share on Facebook is made up crap that they believe is real

Threads is atrocious too

"Robocop 2" is probably the most centrist movie ever made. It presents us with a dystopian police state that it slightly disagrees with before focusing on the real problem: self-righteous wokescolds that distract law enforcement from doing its duties.
“Earnestly doing what the original one critiqued” is kind of an unintentionally funny bit

2026: 2016 On Steroids.
Hate this feeling that all these amazing people who have died this week are just trying to get out before the whole shit house goes up in flames.
February 18, 2026 at 5:33 AM
Oh absolutely. That whole sequence is one of the few bits that would have perfectly fit in with the first film.
It’s a bad movie but the scene where the new RoboCop prototypes keep killing themselves is pretty great

According to Wikipedia: Thomas Rosales Jr has appeared in over 100 films starting with "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" and including: Scarface, Universal Soldier, Face/Off, Speed, Con Air, The Running Man, Predator 2 and "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes" as "Old Man" (full circle)
Only kind of related, but I went on IMDB to remember who else was in the ROBOCOP 2 cast and this dude's IMDB profile headshot is him getting devoured by a TREMORS graboid. That's cool as fuck.

Okay so George Martin DIDN'T produce Cheap Trick's "Dream Police"? I'm trying to figure out why I've thought this my entire life. I'm guessing Rolling Stone was suggesting that it sounded *like* George Martin and I just assumed?
I think the thing is that the George Martin production was a sign that they were moving on from their power-pop origins to the glossier MOR stuff (which, listen, as much as I love "The Flame," that's fair). But the album itself ROCKS.

Sincerely, this is a "look what they took from us" thing for me. I agree Robocop 2 stinks, give or take the robots, but buffing all the skankiness out of studio films makes them less memorable; mandating that everyone onscreen be hot means not just no new Noonans but no Duvall-style character stars.
"Robocop 2" is a bad movie on its own merits but it's a perfect example of a genre of film that only existed in the 80s and 90s which was: a bad action movie saved by the fact that both the protagonist and the antagonist are played by really weird actors.

Cain in "Robocop 2" is a terribly written character, a Frank Miller boogeyman for the Reagan era, but Tom Noonan was absolutely amazing in the role. R.I.P.
Oh, man. Tom Noonan died? His performance as Francis Dolarhyde in Manhunter is one of the most terrifying, mesmerizing I've ever seen in a film.

I fear we need Ryan Murphy to put a pause on making floridly insane tv shows for homosexuals and reboot Glee instead
I am convinced that the right NBC dramedy would more or less solve the trans sports issue, if you actually talk to people who flipped their views on gay rights in the 2000s a disturbingly high percentage will mention Ellen or Queer Eye
This is similar to where gay rights were in the early 90s! Which isn’t great but we actually can move the needle on this

I have to be honest and say I don’t think any number of deaths will move many of these people. It would be too hard to admit to themselves what they’ve already done.
Many years ago Wired magazine had a cover story about vaccines & the anti-vax movement, quoting a doctor who said he no longer wondered if the specter of dead children would start reversing anti-vax sentiment but just how many dead children it'd take. I think tens of thousands frankly, minimum

The momentum was *right there*
it really was a supreme act of cowardice and political stupidity that democrats didnt turn trans rights into a policy pillar like gay marriage after the massive nationwide backlash against north carolinas bathroom ban in 2016
