I had a housemate for a while who was a rabid Red Sox fan so I know about Pawtucket and I expect more than a mere dozen or two innings.

Because of the woke Great Replacement there's hardly any Portlanders who speak Portuguese.

Normally if you hear an important Republican has the body parts of a person much younger than themself you assume a mason jar is involved.

Similarly the strict definition of "awesome" I guess.

Using a hashtag for the Amish seems somehow wrong.

I literally had a history teacher who graded by arbitrary rules without any appreciation or understanding - they just counted the facts in the essay, one point per fact, 200% scores easily available - and the only thing I could learn from them was how to game their dumb system.

Would also accept: The Noble Prize, The Nobler Prize, The Noblest Prize, The Nobeller Prize, or of course The Nobellest Prize

To be fair, Donald Trump wrote (well, "authored") an entire book saying exactly that and has been pretty obviously living by that rule his entire life and really we would be much better off if more people were as honest about that as the Speaker was here.

(He wasn't trying to be honest about it)

To be fair to her, and to everyone who bought into the story about her, while there were always reasons to be deeply skeptical if one knew the backstory I think she played the good guy fairly consistently until she had a chance at (apparent) real power - and then she milkshake ducked it pretty hard.

The serious answer is that of course they don't. They understand it's about people *like* them, but they are confident their money and privilege and connections and usefulness will protect them, and fuck everyone else.

Especially since it isn't obvious that Trump supports Qatar's defense or even its self-determination. Though that is judging by the record of his first term, when Qatar was being threatened with invasion Saudi and the UAE, who were bribing Trump. Qatar has been trying hard to catch up on the bribes.

Hegseth is an idiot but I'm seeing a lot of people saying this is weird, bad spin on a pretty common arrangement by which the US sells fighter planes to foreign countries and their pilots and mechanics train over here.

Whether any of this makes sense for Qatar (300,000 citizens) is another matter.

So excited to see Scalise shift his family from their current health coverage to what he recommends for others.

But what if that's only been true since after he started protesting in costume?

That's right: I'm asking which came first, The Portland Chicken or The Good Egg.

It's not a piano, but this subway installation was really cool while it lasted (apparently it's been intermittently restored since).

Adding weirdness to it, the US does not actually support the defense of Qatar. Or rather Trump doesn't - or didn't, in his first term.

The US sells fighter planes to countries and trains their pilots and their mechanics. Sometimes that happens here. I don't think that would normally justify a base, though, especially for a country of 300,000 citizens (90% of residents have limited or no rights!).

It's absolutely hostile to Jews who dare to be visible - for example, Jews who dare to suggest Auschwitz should not be a shrine to Catholicism. Conspiracy theories and threats abound. There just aren't enough Jews there for it to matter. But I wouldn't recommend anyone move there.

Apparently she's been saying nice things about the murder-on-the-high-seas guy though.

She maybe has to, it's the logical way for her to get support from the only likely source of support. But it's not encouraging.

I have no problem with a presumption that no-one should embark on a term in the Senate at 78, especially a first term.

But it's dumb of them to insist, >1 year ahead of the general election, that such a presumption mandates support for one other candidate in particular. It reveals their intent.

My bias is that if they were setting up a resort destination for coddled military pilots (which is kinda the reputation of those forces, as I understand it), it wouldn't be in Idaho.

But maybe there's more to tourism in Idaho than I appreciate, especially coming from a hot flat place.

That was painful and meant effort and expense to repack the items and resend them, but I can't even imagine if they'd just discarded the package. And that's even though there was nothing irreplaceable in my package!

I have family overseas and send occasional care packages, which became a real pain when customs rules were tightened after COVID (the connection isn't really obvious to me, but that's when it happened), a care package was returned to me for lack of itemization (the form doesn't have space for it).

Chris's proclivities are very well known, because he used to tweet at (women) celebrities about their feet.
