Dear #skystorians, could you please guide me towards an *early* French historiography of World War II and the early postwar (1945-1948)? I am only finding either testimonies/biographies or things related to Algeria/resistance. Thanks!

nb: by early I mean 50s-60s

Fellow #skystorians - does anybody know any publications on racism in Germany after reunification - the so-called Baseballschlägerjahre - in English. I need this for teaching and so far I found only literature in German 🙏🙏🙏

Sounds very interesting indeed. Do you have reading suggestions on this history?

By the end of the decade, activists had become disillusioned with developments on the continent, and Africa was no longer seen as a place of hope (as depicted in Sans Frontière, 1979). These changing perceptions had implications for activism on the ground in France.
November 3, 2025 at 10:06 AM
My argument in two images: In the early 1970s, activists portrayed African anti-imperialists as the avant-garde of an imminent world revolution (see Révolution Africa's poster of Amílcar Cabral).
November 3, 2025 at 10:06 AM
I'm excited to see that @routledgehistory.bsky.social has published an expanded version of the special issue, 'The Cold War of Labour Migrants'. In it, my article, 'From anti-imperialism to multiculturalism' explores the global intellectual history of migrant activists in 1970s France.
