It was accepted as the norm as you say. And when you read them, you read them with that knowledge that these teens were asking perfectly reasonable questions but the advice now would be so different!

The British Newspaper Archives in partnership with @britishlibrary.bsky.social and @findmypast.bsky.social recently added Jackie to its' library, a weekly teens mag that ran from 1964 to 1993. This includes the popular Cathy and Claire' pages, an agony aunt page offering some questionable advice!

Yes actually one of my Cypriot cousins and his fiance were flight attendants on one of the planes sadly. I don't know this side of my cousins well, but I found out as I was researching the Koma Tou Yialou side and found newspaper clippings. #Genhour

late to the party but this kind of dire! We have become a house for dying: we die to ourselves: we have lost our self-control.

Military records provide excellent insights into heroic efforts countrymen went to in service, but files can sometimes report on the misdemeanours as well. This record shows this chap consistently being reported, but what might 'committing a nuisance in his bed' have referred to? #Genealogy

Why can't Meta have an actual support function when you can't log in? Swapped sim to new handset & all verification methods failed to get into FB. Codes are invalid. Old recovery number is out of date. So now suspended and in limbo with no way of raising a support ticket. Had the account 18 years!!

Oh gosh that's pretty extensive! A huge chunk of Cambs census records foe 1861 are missing altogether. I suppose at least this is something! Lucky they were at the bottom!

That's such a shame! Is the red element a chemical reaction then?

1861 Census for Borough Gaol in Gorton, Lancs. Those marks.... Is this...? Could it be....? Is there an explanation for this other than what it looks like? #genealogy #bloodyjails #censusrecords

Being quiet on social media whilst I plough through case studies for my Dissertation. I'm wondering why a nephew would be called an 'adopted son' in the 1951 census, only to be called 'nephew' in the next 3 census records. He's not my main focus though so will have to keep guessing! #genealogy #msc
