Art clownishly becomes sadistic Santa in holiday-themed chapter of blood & guts saga.

Unrelenting gore & violence may put off some, but Art & Victoria are also darkly humorous. Too much lore & mythology, though, convolutes plot.

Cooper slays as world weary rock star. Believable dialogue & authentic performances (on stage & off) make this update of Streisand's SIB feel more real.

Remake is bigger in every way. Garland belts beautifully & Mason delivers masterclass of onscreen drunkenness.

Characterizations seem more fully realized from earlier version, but a few too many song breaks slow momentum & extend runtime.

Classic formula works, but the two powerhouse stars seem slightly misaligned.

Gaynor is too old & wise to be naive bumpkin, while March's drunk is either completely sober or stupidly outrageous. Best when handling lighthearted courtship.

Brilliant chaos. Literally, it's the film that redefined my preconceived notion of narrative structure. As a kid, it blew my mind! One of the most important experiences of my squishy young brain...so I'll always love it.
