On Monday, November 24, at approximately 7 a.m., City contractors plan to pave the roadway on Somerville Avenue between Park Street & Beech Street. While paving is underway, Somerville Avenue between Lowell Street & Park Street will be closed to through motor vehicle traffic in both directions.

Yesterday, we celebrated the installation of 10 inclusive swings across playgrounds! Thanks to our Public Space & Urban Forestry & the Somerville Commission for Persons with Disabilities @somerville-rsj.bsky.social, we've increased the percentage of City parks with inclusive swings from 39% to 83%.

Last Friday, we celebrated the opening of Junction Park! This long awaited green space includes 90 new shade trees, a hammock area, water stations, and over 6,000 native plantings.

How happy are Somerville residents? According to the City’s latest biennial Happiness Survey, residents continue to report high levels of satisfaction with life in Somerville.
Led by SomerStat in spring 2025, the survey gathered nearly 1,400 responses from a sample cross-section of residents.

Today, November 4, is Election Day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Vote-by-mail ballots must be placed in a dropbox before 6 p.m. or hand-delivered to Elections at City Hall (93 Highland Ave.) before 8 p.m.
