The Dáil has heard a suggestion that Dublin Airport be named after the former Taoiseach Sean Lemass.

Any counteroffers?

I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

big 'mandatory not compulsory' vibe
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said today that the fight against climate change was not against the fuels that cause it — only the pollution they emit.
Von der Leyen says EU is not fighting fossil fuels, only emissions
The comment could undermine European countries’ push at COP30 to move away from coal, oil and gas.

Okay whoever decided on that ridiculous story about suspected foxes cutting wires in Dublin needs to own up. They don't even have any proof and there's a whole piece with interviews etc.
RTE, the foxes in mayo take in washing when it's raining I'm happy to give an interview on it

Endless austerity combined with tax giveaways to multinational business is not “the centre”. It is the right. Donohue is a right-wing politician. He’s a nice man who read books and listens to records and enacts right-wing policy positions. www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2025...

I was at an event the Taoiseach attended last night and overheard what I consider the most Irish introduction.
A lady walked up to the Taoiseach, shook his hand and said:
“Micheál, we’ve met before - my great aunt (God rest her soul) used to be your neighbour. Wasn’t she a fine woman?”

Had a little trip to NLI and found this line in a civil servant's correspondence, dated 1948, which I'll be thinking about for the rest of the day:
"At the moment I am bound to take a somewhat detached view of this matter as it relates to a period before the change of the regime."

On the surface of it, neat for Labour to steal SF's clothes for a change. But in reality, 'calling for a timeline' makes exactly the same mistake that SF have done - asking for a referendum instead of outlining a vision for what would be voted on, or how it would be won #speirgorm
Labour leader Ivana Bacik this evening called upon the Irish and British governments to set a 'clear timeline' for a referendum on Irish unity.

Bacik said Labour’s goal is to build a 32 county republic 'including our new Irish, who have chosen to make Ireland their home' jrnl.ie/6875911

Someone posted a letter to the IT here recently and the writer was suggesting making Irish more accessible by scrapping an t-urú agus an séimhiú. Now I’m not qualified to speak on the intricacies of this, but simply, where’s the flavour man? You don’t want to say “ar an mbus”?
