Colvin stopped straightening her hair after the May trial. She was NOT pregnant when community leaders decided not to go forward with her case. She said the only adult who kept up with her that summer was Rosa Parks who wanted her to continue to be involved in the Youth Council.

Friends, Claudette Colvin—the 15-year-old who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus in March 1955 & joined the federal case against bus segregation that went to the Supreme Court — died today at age 86. But there are lots of myths and mis-impressions about her. A short corrective thread:

But with all the focus on semiconductors, we’ve let the memory of the last few years swallow up the many decades of contention over Taiwan going back to the Cold War. It’s very short-sighted, historically speaking

As we talk about Taiwan, Trump, and semiconductors, I think it important to remind that Taiwan was significant to the world before semiconductors and it will after. We’re only talking about semiconductors in the last five years really. Why? Simply put: geography

I think this kind of thing is best done in private so that no one else has to be subjected to it. Tony Dokoupil is really one of the most pathetic and despicable people around. Few reach his level of contemptibility
Tony Dokoupil: "Mr. President, thank you very much. For the record, I do think that I'd have this job even if the others guys won."

Donald Trump: "Yeah, but at a lesser salary."

[Dokoupil then giggles as they wrap up the segment.]

There's a large part of the same Hmong community doubting & making light of what's going on here in MN because they believe that because Hmong helped US fight a war, that we're somehow safe. The US literally does not care. ICE does not care. You are not safe from their profiling. We are not safe.

So much of the Hmong American generational trauma is tied to our elders' part in the Vietnam War. And I'm so tired, so tired of seeing how this is always the thing that defines us. We are more than our trauma !
ok hmong people in st. paul deserve to be protected from being kidnapped regardless of whether they or their grandpa fought for the US in vietnam and regardless of whether they are “good” and “upright” citizens it’s kidnapping it’s wrong. i get why people are bringing this up but.

She said ‘get some lunch big guy ‘ at a cop that trained other cops
This is appalling: Top DOJ officials are actively pushing for a criminal investigation into the widow of Renee Good, leading prosecutors to quit en masse, NYT is reporting.

Who in the White House ordered DOJ to do this? That's the next thing to establish.
