Hungry? Why wait?

The weather's getting colder and sometimes it's nice to feel a chill. Nothing does that like Ravenous, the 1999 film by Antonia Bird. Not even Sheriff Dewey himself can safe you from the score by Michael Nyman/Damon Albarn.

Alright #Booksky, I have been told by my 18 year old son that I need to read a series that starts with Scythe. It is written by Neal Shusterman. I'm 43...what am I in for? I'm gonna read it, but I'd like to know what to expect lol.

This is a great question:
What's a movie you recommend with enthusiasm that they end up not liking as much as you do?

It's Critters. I can talk for hours about that goofy little movie and how much I love it, but for some reason mean tribbles and space bounty hunters aren't for everyone.
#filmsky🎥
What a movie you recommend to people with enthusiasm but find that few people you recommend it to like it as much as you do?

Me: Probably Prometheus, which has its fans but is objectively, fundamentally flawed. Also Pandorum.

(My non-genre tastes are very conventional.)

Today, we're talking about a movie that marks the start of the holiday season in the Lovelady household. Yes, I'm talking about A Christmas Story. More enjoyable than good, but damnit it makes me feel good!

After putting a few weeks between me and Bugonia, I've decided to update my rating from 4* to 5*. As much as I really wanted to dislike this film due to my experiences with Yorgos's prior work, I just can't. That scene between Emma and Aidan just...I can't.

For the last day of Sword & Sorcery week, my pick will be controversial. This movie, while in a sci-fi setting, is pure sword & sorcery. With soundtrack by Queen, Flash Gordon was a moving comic strip in 1980 and still holds a place in my heart.
