It is paid for by an embellishment fee on property taxes, averaging out to under $40/year per address. This, my friends, is a BARGAIN. Would the neighbor kid clear your walk *all winter* for only $40? A private service?

Two years ago I interviewed a 31-year-old NY state assemblymember about a 7-year-old girl killed by an SUV driver in his district. I hung up the phone, astonished that I'd talked to a legislator who so thoughtfully articulated what actually needs to change on our streets.

He'll make a great mayor

A devastating crash in Astoria has left three people dead. I'm heartbroken for the victims and their loved ones.

We can't normalize this. It's time to commit to streets that are safe for everyone.

At 20 intersections testing the technology, approaching buses will be given priority with an extended green light or a shortened red light. The city has not decided on bus routes for the pilot, but a SEPTA spokesman says Route 47 is a good candidate. www.audacy.com/kywnewsradio...
What if SEPTA buses got longer green lights, shorter red lights? A yearlong pilot will find out
The city is preparing to test technology that would give SEPTA buses priority at traffic signals, in an effort to improve bus speed and reliability.

"the high cost of free parking" is a book that legit rewired my brain. RIP to a great scholar
I'm deeply saddened to share that Donald Shoup passed away last night. He was the ideal academic—curious, methodical, and concerned with turning ideas into real-world change. TAing his parking course these past few years has one of the greatest honors of my life. Rest in peace, Shoup Dogg.

Most of us can only dream of our work having a fraction of the positive real world impact of Donald Shoup's. But *all* of us can emulate his kindness, generosity, curiosity, and humor. Live your life so people remember how you made them feel as much as how you made them think. Memory, blessing.

Mayor Parker has now hired at least three disgraced Philly politicians to vague outreach or comms jobs

Her office couldn’t say if any of these jobs were ever posted publicly, or if any of the candidates submitted resumes or formal applications

The truck used in the New Orleans terrorist attack is a Ford F-150 Lightning, which is perfectly designed for this kind of attack.

It weighs more than 6000 lbs, accelerates to 60 mph in just 4 seconds, and the battering-ram-shaped front is nearly 5 feet tall. Deadly by design.

I'm excited about government action to STALL (not prevent) SEPTA's death spiral, but Rendell flexed $412 million from highway funds to address a $42 million operating deficit in 2005. Today Shapiro is flexing $153 million to address a $240 million operating deficit.

Out of 1.5 million Philadelphians, the mayor & sheriff want us to believe that these are the best qualified individuals for these roles? Really?

Philadelphians deserve better
NEW: Former Philly Traffic Court Judge Willie Singletary was kicked off the bench for sexual harassment and later found guilty of lying to the feds about a ticket fixing scheme

Even so, he recently landed a $90k/year city job. So did two other convicted ex-pols www.inquirer.com/news/willie-...

We need transit to be funded in Philly from a climate perspective & just a base-line supporting residents perspective. We needed more support for public transit, & we're about to get less. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

Philly let's do what we do best: complain.
