When mothers admitted their children to the London Foundling Hospital, they often left tokens. Sometimes, just a cut of the child's clothing, as in this case. This child was reclaimed by its mother in 1760. Seeing the fabric in the archive this week was incredible.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

This is Eeyore. He led a sheriff's deputy to his grandma after she fell during their walk. We are awarding him the incredibly rare 15/10 (FB: OkaloosaSheriff)

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Just seen an academic job posting stating that the successful candidate must be within 7 years of their initial academic appointment. So now, you can't be a lecturer (or US equivalent) if you're more than 7 years out? Fucking brilliant, that's me done then.

We've just had a lot of fun making a short video about Northumberland place names...

unfortunately, it doesn't seem to post so well here. Go and have a look at our other social media accounts (FB, IG, TikTok) to see it in all its glory!

How do you pronounce Cambois?

It's European day of language at nephew's nursery today, and brother in law just sent a video of him shouting 'bore da' in his Brummie accent. He's such a cutie (nephew, not BiL) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Throughout the 20th Century, unmarried mothers endured shame and institutionalisation. In Single Mothers in Twentieth-century Ireland and Britain, @lorrainegrimes.bsky.social examines the journeys made by hundreds of pregnant Irish women to Britain.

So, right now, the only reliable way to diagnose endometriosis is with exploratory surgery. But finally, real scientists (instead of male scientists), are on the job & of course they’ve identified multiple markers in menstrual blood that point to noninvasive testing.

We're staying in Kings Cross, so nice and close to the Foundling Museum and the LMA.

I'll be at the Foundling Museum first week of Sept. I feel like I'll never get this book written 🙄

I love how quickly and efficiently my husband books me an archive trip, while I just sit and panic. Within an hour of the archive confirming, he's got the dog looked after and a hotel booked.

He's been with Chris all afternoon, but has decided to sit with me tonight 🙄🤣
