It met the criteria for foul play. This statement hints at why it was concluded that the incident didn't meet the red card threshold (there wasn't a high degree of danger).
I get that and I'm sure that bunkers lead to more accuracy. My dislikes are that it removes an element of drama from the pitch (I disagree thst faster is always better) but mostly that it takes responsibility away from the referee who should always be the final arbiter of what happens on the day.
Here's one where the card was deemed sufficient punishment. Scott Barrett: New Zealand lock to face no further action after red card - BBC Sport share.google/IF8NV107RqyT...
It was a mistake and it's exactly the kind of mistake that the bunker is designed to avoid. It should be abolished (I dislike the bunker on principle so this isn't a position generated by this incident).
It's stupid that I've been afraid to say this out loud but Jack's execution of his attacking kicks really let him down on Saturday. It's all the more notable because he's normally pretty good at it.
Expectations should always have been for a strong side. That's what he did last year against Fiji. It has long been a point of discussion about how he doesn't easily hand out caps.
I'm not sure that we should expect him to change tack. He did the same thing last year against Fiji. There's also reasonable arguments for sliding a couple of new faces into a team and seeing how they gel rather than making wholesale changes.
It is, but it's kind of what fans do isn't it? FWIW I thought that there were times yesterday when the lineout looked a little too complicated, a little too much movement and not enough speed. Our lineout has been an issue since before the world cup.
Nope and we've lost that edge where for a couple of years if we got within 5m of the opposition line we were odds on to score. We kicked very early in attack tonight which had to have been part of a plan. Will be interested to see how it develops.
Their pace isn't outstanding though. Keenan's definitely quicker than Jamie and he wouldn't be that far off Tommy. I'll be surprised if we ever try to use pace as a primary weapon. Our playing population is just too small to produce enough genuine speedsters.
