Agreed about Beyond. I think maybe the most frustrating thing to me is that JJs Trek movies would have been a blast if they had been original sci-fi, with the same cast and plot, but every 2 minutes he has to go Glup Shitto mode

Rewatched the Abrams Trek films recently after loving them as a teen - The cast is great, but it feels like the worst of Hollywood/Disney's nostalgia-based legacy media tripe content started with 2009 Trek, and somehow JJ was allowed to make two beloved series into referential wank-fests

The real reason autism rates have increased is the diminished importance of trains (especially steam locomotives) in modern society. 100 years ago if you were autistic, you could just go become an engineer or brakeman, but no such luck today.

I think all the time about Elon's "bullied so bad he was hospitalized" backstory, and how he actually made fun of a classmate whose mother had just committed suicide, so the classmate threw Elon down a flight of stairs, and his dad effectively just said "well what do you expect"
