anyway a plague on auxiliary verbs, present participles, the definite and indefinite article, and almost all adverbs. I feel so sure I've killed my habitual repetitions and then I read something out loud and oh the ugly jangle.

the thing i'm working on needs to be stylish and sharp. reading back over paragraphs like how many words are just here because I always put them here. why am I overtagging the dialogue. can I make this shorter.

spend so much time at the moment thinking about how to slice down my prose. my default is workmanlike and straightforward and its main virtues are that it's easy and I can do 2k of it every day without thinking very hard.
