Gareth Thomas MP in Commons on @coinstreet.bsky.social housing co-op at Oxo Tower Wharf: "Given that Redwood is run by its tenants, charges some of the lowest rents in central London and offers some of the best views, should not every community have a Redwood?" www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=...

Our new film argues that community power is the antidote to division and democratic decline.

Give communities the power to fix broken Britain from the ground up.

We were pleased to attend the launch of @right_hereUK Museum of Broken Dreams exhibition @UKParliament this week. Too many community projects fail to get off the ground due to bureaucracy and red tape. We're an example of what’s possible with the right support. #PeopleLedChange
🙏 We commemorated VJ Day, recognising those who fought and died in WW2. We welcomed people to an event where 99 year old RAF veteran Gilbert Clarke shared his memories of the war, Lord Paul Boateng spoke about the importance of inclusive history and we exhibited textile art made by our community.
🖼️ We were delighted to host Roger Hooper at the Oxo Gallery with an array of his striking wildlife photography. Roger's work has been featured in multiple @wwf.org.uk publications over the years and the exhibition created a buzz on the South Bank.
🌞 We ran 3 weeks of Sports and Activity summer camp for 30 young people aged 8 to 13 in partnership with Lambeth and Southwark councils. Activities include sports, creative workshops, indoor games, swimming and White Water Rafting at Lee Valley White Water Centre.
🃏We celebrated National #Playday2025 with 20 families and 16 nursery children on the theme of ‘SPACE to PLAY’. There was music, games, art and crafts, as well as a chance for the children to build their own cardboard box installation.
August has been a vibrant month of celebrating play, summer adventures, marvelling at wildlife and remembrance. Here are our highlights 👇

🖌️ We launched the bold new Coin Street brand refresh with an updated logo, new colour palette, and a website revamp to help us better connect with people in our community and beyond. We’ve also refreshed the branding for Oxo Tower Wharf and Gabriel’s Wharf to give them a fresh new look!
🩰 We celebrated our unique relationship with Rambert Dance Company with a ceremony for them to present us with a pair of dance shoes in lieu of rent for their studio at Coin Street. They provide a wide range of services to local people from toddlers to seniors instead.
⛵ Over 100 seniors from our community joined our summer boat party to dance, play games and enjoy a wonderful afternoon on the River Thames.
🌈 Throughout the month we celebrated our LGBTQ+ colleagues and community members with Pride flags, bunting, lanyards, reflections from colleagues, our leadership team and board members, a themed talk, a movie night, cakes and the creation of a new staff-led LQBTQ+ group. #PrideMonth #loveislove

On Saturday, Coin Street were at the Great Get Together hosting a children’s stall for face painting and arts.

There were a selection of free activities celebrating everything that unites our communities, inspired by Jo Cox’s belief that we have more in common than divides us.
Living Bankside hosts The Great Get Together SE1 2025 – now in its ninth year – dedicated to the memory of the late Jo Cox MP, who was tragically killed in June 2016.
