230/422 London Bridge: Jubilee/Northern Line. My exit leads me to The Barrowboy & Banker. There’s two floors. I head upstairs and settle into an armchair but am quickly moved on by the bouncer as Sally has reserved it and she’s watching on looking cross. Sorry Sally. Half cider ‎ = £3.25 Rating 3/5

Very fine Nonsuch Chest probably given to St Saviour's Church (now Southwark Cathedral) by the Sheriff of London 1588.
Likely work of Flemish refugees who had settled in Borough:
oak w walnut, pear, cherry, box, rosewood, ash, yew, holly + ebony inlay. Used to hold parish records.
Very large oak chest decorated with multiple panels of fine inlay in walnut, pear, cherry, box, rosewood, ash, yew, holly + ebony. Panel themes include exotic townscapes, coat of arms, geometric and floral ones. It rests on ball shaped feet, six of which are visible from the front.

They call London a 24-hour city, yet I’ve just walked across Westminster Bridge at 8am and wasn’t offered a single opportunity to be scammed out of a large sum of money via a cup and balls game or to purchase an extortionately priced ice cream from a van parked illegally in a bus lane. Shameful.

From the ivy-clad ruins of St Dunstan in the East, the Shard rises like a futuristic spire. The space between them feels like a portal — medieval London whispering endurance, modern ambition shouting back — time layering rather than erasing.

London's looking beautiful right now as summer fades into the autumnal colors.
