Today’s read aloud really hit us hard. With only 11 days left before we move into a new school, we’re feeling all sorts of things. Reading about what happens to a house when people move out and nature takes over, had us wondering a lot about what will happen to Parma Elementary when we move out. 🌳 🏠

Ended our day with one of my favorite picture books to read aloud. My 5th graders had a ball experiencing this read aloud.
At the end of the read aloud one of the kids said, “Isn’t the author married to X. Fang the author We are Definitely Humans and Broken ?” I love that my little book nerds.

We found ourselves a handful of minutes ahead of schedule this morning, so we snuck in a bonus read aloud. The kids REALLY loved HOW THE COOKIE CRUMBLES. There is just something special about books that teach share the stories of how things were invented. 🍪

I don’t know how we would have the conversation we are able to have in my classroom without books like An American Story. The things the kids talked about today really blew my mind. One of the best read aloud experiences I have had in my 19 years in the classroom.

I finished my first book for grownups yesterday. The Endurance Artist was a fascinating read about the man behind the beloved races The Barkley Marathon and Big’s Backyard Ultra. Loved it!

Loved Sweet Spot. There is nothing like a great middle grade baseball book. With the way youth sports have changed the last twenty years, they do not lend themselves as well to books for kids. Vickers found a way to do it! I could not put this one down. I cannot wait to see what young readers think.
