"a quarter-master of the name of Woodhouse in the 3rd Regiment of Dragoons at 40 shillings per quarter."

#OnThisDay - 2 December 1789, James Ashwell Tabor JP., was born. One of the originators of the #ColchesterMuseum, he took great interest in local philanthropy and established the #Colchester #RaggedSchool.

Just before the bus stop on the 'town' side of North Bridge are barriers, cones and signs blocking Middleborough announcing closure of the bus stop and that works are permitted works to start and finish on 11 November.

Born at Tymperleys in Trinity Street, he is known as the father of electricity and magnetism.

He is commemorated in and believed by some to be buried in, #HolyTrinityChurch.

BIG plans to completely revamp Colchester’s St Botolph's Quarter are set to be given the green light.

#OnThisDay - 26 November 1944, the Regal Theatre (later the #Odeon) on Crouch Street hosted a "Grand Musical Concert" featuring the Band of the #RoyalBerkshireRegiment.

The concert, under the patronage of the Mayor (AW Piper JP), was in aid of the 17th ITC Prisoner of War Fund.
