This is an infographic about Snowy Owls. “THE SUPERB OWL Aves Strigiformes Strigidae Bubo scandiacus Facial discs, stiff feathers that surround their eyes, refect sound waves toward their ears. Superb owls have ear tufts, though they're small and often hard to spot.: Asymmetrically-placed ears heip pinpoint the exact location of potential prey. Their beaks are short, curved, and hooked for gripping prey. Owls are far-sighted and rely on bristies around their beaks to sense nearby objects. Serrated edges on flight feathers cut noise produced by wing flapping, which help the owls go undetected by potential prey. Forward-facing eyes give snowy owis excellent stereoscopic vision and depth perception. - Superb owls have big eyes-they weigh as much as our own. Their large corneas and pupils allow for a huge amount of light to enter the eye, giving them incredibly good night vision. Owls have three eyelids upper, lower, and a third-called a nictitating membrane-to clean and protect the eye. Owls cannot move their eyes. To see their surroundings, snowy owls rely on their highly flexible necks which are able to turn up to 270° in either direction. Thanks in part to thick feathers needed for insulation, snowies are the heaviest owl species in North America, typically welghing about 4 pounds. Superb owl was once placed in its own genus (Nyctea scandico) but recent genetic analysis revealed the species is closely related to horned owls in the Bubo genus. Superb owls eat an estimated 1,600 lemmings every year. Unlike most owls which are typically nocturnal, Superb owls are diurnal-they're active both during the day and at night. Superbowls have a wingspan between 4 and 5 feet. Superb owls swallow small prey whole. Indigestible parts of animals, like bones and fur, are compacted into pellets that the owis regurgitate up to 24 hours after eating. On Groundhog Day in 2014, New York City Mayor Bill DiBlasio was lifting up Charlotte the groundhog when the groundhog leapt from his arms and hit the ground. The groundhog appeared fine but died a few days later. Exactly one year later, the mayor of Sun Prairie Wisconsin was preparing to “hear” the groundhog’s “prediction” by having a handler lift Jimmy the Groundhog to his ear. The groundhog bit the mayor on the ear, and I immediately decided that this was clearly retribution. A counterstrike dealt by a Groundhog sleeper cell against the mayors of America.

A black-and-white comic I drew 10 years ago, called “January… And February.” in the first panel you see me, a young woman in a sweater, jeans, boots, and a scarf walking down a curving sidewalk whistling a jaunty tune. In the first Panel, you see me, hands in pockets, scarf flowing in the breeze behind me, whistling my jaunty tune and a little black cloud is sneaking up behind me. In third panel, you see me whipping my head around to look at the little black cloud, but it’s not there. There’s only a little burst shape where it was. in the fourth panel, I’m still whistling and I’m much bigger, angrier looking black cloud sneaks up behind me. In the fifth panel, I turn around and this time I see the black cloud. I put my hand up to block against the cloud. The cloud has little lightning bolts and big raindrops flying out of it at this point. In the sixth panel, I have a shocked expression on my face and my hands are up in front of me, but the cloud has become goopy looking, and it’s sticking to my hands. In the seventh panel, the cloud is sticking to more of me, like Star, I have raised one of my feet up in a kicking motion and I am struggling with the cloud. In the eighth panel, I’ve fallen to my knees and am waving my arms as the black cloud begins to wrap itself around me, with more lightning bolts coming out of it. Then, you see lines indicating that u fallen out of the eighth panel, onto the bottom of the page. I’m lying there in a black tarry heap, twitching, with little lightning ZAPS zapping out of it, and all you can see anymore is one of my classic converse all-star chuck taylor sneakers and a bit of my scarf sticking out. At the top of the page, in cursive it says “January…” And then right before where you see me lying in a heap covered in black goo, it says, “…and February.” Period.

Most years I get through January & February alive by just hunkering down as much as possible and thinking about how soon it will be over. It’s January 29th and I’d normally be thinking, “The horribleness is half over.” But the horribleness is not half over. Not this year. The future feels so bleak.

(It was really hard to figure out how to lay out the black shapes since the helmets are not the same shape, so the pattern is not exact, it’s just got the same vibe.) I was delighted to see Debra Fey and Jerry Megli, who stopped by the shop to say hello with the Ukelele I painted for Jerry (one of the founders of the Mentone Ukes!)

My dad bought the separate parts and then built the #ukulele after I #painted the design on the body.

This is a photo of a terrified young autistic woman being dragged out of her car by ICE after they surrounded her and smashed her windows while she was driving to a doctor’s appointment. The “agents” screamed conflicting orders at her, screaming for her to keep driving and leave at the same time as they screamed for her to stop and get out of the car, ensuring that she COULD NOT POSSIBLY COMPLY with all orders. No one knows where she is now and her car was left open and running in the middle of the road with all of her personal possessions there for anyone to take. This is Nazism.
