As someone who loves the books, Percy Jackson is fantastic and you should definitely watch it.

Ok I recalled incorrectly about the eyes, it IS described as "with eyes of flame", but I still think fire eyes would have been too easy and I still think you'd describe these in a similar way if you saw this thing in the wild all horrible and huge
I tried I TRIED to remember to take in-progress pictures this time but alas all I've got is the After™

Mortals of bluesky, I present: the Jabberwock. The jaws that bite, the claws that catch.

I went through like three iterations and landed on "cthulu dragon mind flayer" as a color palette

I’ve seen Tarrant County described as deep red a number of times, but it’s complicated. Local leadership - county judge, mayors, etc. - is solid GOP. Trump won here in 2016 (51-43) and 2024 (52-47), but Biden won narrowly in 2020. Also went for Dems over Ted Cruz in 2018 (Beto) and 2024 (Allred).

Man I'm trying very hard not to sink like Artax, trying VERY hard

The world is so full of big problems I can't fix, big terrifying problems that affect real people I know (and myself), and it's hard not to just sink

Feeling helpless and trying with all my might to stay this side of hopeless

I feel like something we as a people need to wrap our arms and minds around is that Trump literally has no concept of the truth or what's true, just as he has no concept of happiness or sadness or right and wrong. These things aren't part of his reasoning because they're not part of his world

Catherine O'Hara brought a lot of joy and laughter to my family. She's always SO funny and SO in character, in every scene she's in

Jo-Ann was such a superior craft store to Michaels and Hobby Lobby (never shopped at hobby lobby due to the bigotry) and now it's GONE and all we've got is MICHAELS where everything is hard to find and most things are in two or three different places GOD I hate Michaels

This stuff picks up textures so well, from molds or surfaces or whatever. It's amazing.

BUT ALSO you can paint (or drizzle or something) it onto a thing and cure it and it's like the nicest glossy varnish. And depending on how you do that it can look WET or SLIMY or SHINY or even METALLIC
Unfortunately, I've discovered UV resin and will now be trying to use it in every project

I'm being very safe! Resin in general is really toxic, so safe is:

1) ventilated area, full respirator around uncured resin
2) gloves (nitrile NOT latex)
3) UV eye protection around curing lights

It's gonna rain all day tomorrow, then sleet, then a hard freeze over night with continued precipitation, snow Saturday, high of 20° Sunday. Unironically can't wait. I hope the grid holds despite Abbott mostly ignoring it and occasionally sabotaging green energy that could help alleviate stress

Important
Salt -- and I can't stress this enough -- your pasta water aggressively. I'm talking a HANDFUL of kosher salt. It should taste like the sea. Your baseline happiness will improve

I've said this before but I unironically love this David Lynch meme moment. I love it as a creator. Because LISTEN, you don't owe anyone an explanation or even a reason something you made is important or worthwhile or meaningful. INCLUDING YOURSELF

I can be a very practical and empirical person much of the time, and David Lynch was one of those creators who was able to make me stop for a moment, look in the face of reality's endless absurdity, and just shrug, and say, "why the hell not?"

David Lynch passed a year ago today. I hope we all can absorb just a little bit of the energy he put out in his lifetime.
