Happy Retraction Day to those who celebrate!

It’s hard to quantify how much damage Wakefield’s sinister study and subsequent publication did t public health but it’s A LOT.

He’s not a doctor anymore either.

For #rstats users, {renv} now provides similar functionality to {groundhog}. With your script open in RStudio, simply call renv::embed() & a code snippet will be inserted at the top with the script's version-specific dependencies and the code to install them 🧪#stats

I agree date-based is user-friendly. However:

renv::embed() is all you need (try it!)

groundhog depends on 1 guy maintaining this online DB: groundhogr.com/gran/ Will it still exist 5 yrs from now?

renv & its online repo are backed by a company of pro software developers: packagemanager.posit.co

Groundhog for R is so good for reproducibility.

You just load your packages with it and voila, anyone who runs your script will have the same package versions.

One less hurdle to reproducible code.

Props to the team at Wharton Credibility Lab!

If I were to do an introduction of myself I think my browser tab groups would do a pretty good job of showing where my head is at right now...

Shout out to vertical tabs on the Edge browser btw, so nice.

New addition to my blog: DOIs! Using the super cool new Rouge Scholar service (rogue-scholar.org), I've added DOIs and long-term archiving to all my blog posts. so if you've wanted to cite one of my blog posts but journals were unhappy about a URL in the references, now you have a DOI for cover :)

So I have already noticed the bugs...

*BUT* have been super pleasantly surprised by all the interesting folks who are already over here.

Hopefully we'll rediscover the best parts of what science was on the bird app, without some of the yikes...

Welcome, new users! You just helped us set a new record high for traffic on our service. 👋

Early today, we experienced degraded performance on our server, causing the app to be slow for users, but this is now resolved.
