Perhaps I'm being naïve but it seems it would be easier, politically, for rebel MPs to rebel and organise against policies they didn't explicitly stand on?

This is likely the tragedy of Starmer, the Tories are gifting him a rare opportunity to win on a manifesto that's bolder than usual. But their loss aversion has watered it down and the ability to be bolder than the manifesto will be limited when in power...

In principle you could even embed it in your slides if you use a Quarto presentation!

They seem pretty good! Responded already and said it should be a straightforward, so I'm optimistic!

So it's super easy to use, but seems like it might not work with Quarto/.qmd files yet which is a bummer for me, but I raised it with them so hopefully soon!

I agree date-based is user-friendly. However:

renv::embed() is all you need (try it!)

groundhog depends on 1 guy maintaining this online DB: groundhogr.com/gran/ Will it still exist 5 yrs from now?

renv & its online repo are backed by a company of pro software developers: packagemanager.posit.co

Oh I definitely will give it a go, I also did not know that {renv} was a Posit project!

Hopefully, there is some sort of long term maintenance plan for {groundhog}, but that Is a really important point for long term reproducibility.

Ja, thanks for sharing! I typically use {renv} so that is super useful.

I think being able to specify a global date instead of package vers probably gives {groundhog} the edge for wider use though. Purely as minimal effort is probably a key factor in people adding these things to their workflow 😅

I think I agree with the devs that groundhog is probably better for most of what researchers do, where {renv} is better for bigger projects and development

Folks who read your code don't need any background knowledge to use groundhog, you can add a quick comments saying what it is and that's it!
