TTRPG Question of the Day

Does your character have any regrets?

The path PCs walk through their lives are often filled with mistakes or missed opportunities. These regrets can explain their current desires, fears, or motivations. What's your PC's biggest regret? GMs, what about your villain?

TTRPG Question of the Day

What would you character do after they retire?

The adventure is done. World saved or bad guy thwarted. What happens then? Is the quest never ending & they go till they die, or do they spend the rest of their days on an exotic beach? Maybe they become mentors?

TTRPG Question of the Day

Is your character afraid of anything?

PCs are often played as being totally fearless, even in the face of death. However, having a character who is afraid of something, whether a tangible thing or loose concept, can be interesting. GMs, is your BBEG afraid of something?

TTRPG Question of the Day

What is your one favorite mechanic from any TTRPG?

There are many games out there with interesting mechanics in them. Sometimes these little pieces of the rules can actually be the selling point of the entire game. Do you have a specific mechanic you love & if so, why?

TTRPG Question of the Day

Do you ever consider the mental & emotional impact violence has on your PC?

In many TTRPGs violence is a given. Sections of the rules cover combat but what about it's other effects. Does your character sleep soundly or have nightmares? Do they compartmentalize to deal?

TTRPG Question of the Day

How do you keep combat interesting?

In games featuring combat it can be hard to keep it engaging. Maybe the objectives are dull or the mechanics are repetitive. How do you keep it exciting? Do you add goals? Focus on the narrative impact? Or maybe try different tactics?

TTRPG Question of the Day

Have you ever been disappointed by changes between editions of a TTRPG?

There's been a lot of discussion about changes between editions of D&D, but other games see these conversations as well. The WoD for example. What's a change, mechanical or narrative, you didn't like?

TTRPG Question of the Day

How do you feel about alignment in D&D?

While mostly a thing of the past every now & again I'll see a strong opinion either completely for, or totally against, the use of alignment. Many tables ignored it, others paid lip service to it, while others strictly enforced it.

TTRPG Question of the Day

Do you bring new characters into a campaign at the same power level as the others?

This question needs to be answered when a character dies or retires, or a new player joins. Does a starting level character lag behind existing ones? Does starting higher feel unfair?

TTRPG Question of the Day

What type of energy damage is your favorite?

Obviously not every TTRPG has energy damage (or even combat), but for those that do there is often a variety. Superhero games have everything, from fire to electricity to acid, while D&D throws in necrotic & radiant damage.

TTRPG Question of the Day

Do you prefer energy or projectile weapons in your sci-fi TTRPGs?

This conversation comes up a lot in the genre, with arguments that often hinge on the setting at hand. But this is a question of pure personal preference. Do you want the bang or do you prefer the zap?

We don't kink shame around these parts. Live your xenomorphic truth! 🤣

Hey you! Yeah, you. What's your creature type?

TTRPG Question of the Day

Does magical healing leave scars?

This includes super science methods, such as injectable nanobots or some sort of high-tech med patch. The question is whether these methods of quickly recovering from injury leave reminders. How is it in your setting or at your table?
constantconnell.bsky.social
Oh look! I just now noticed the typo. 🙄

I played Torch once. I think I was some sort of cyber ninja & the other player was a werewolf? I think? It was fun times as I recall.

TTRPG Question of the Day

What is your favorite genre mashup?

There are so many fun genre combos out there. From fantasy cyberpunk, to wild west horrors, to mecha superheroes, & everything in between. Most of these stand combinations make for great TTRPGs, like with Shadowrun or Eat the Reich.

TTRPG Question of the Day

Do you have any game-related anxiety?

We can all struggle with parts of the hobby. Some people get stressed about not knowing the rules while others are very uncomfortable with the spotlight being on them. I myself struggle with change, whether in players or schedule.

Always interesting to me when people compare numbers between their social media accounts. People will get engagement one place but not another, which will be the exact opposite experience of the next person.

Just do your thing where you want to do it. 😁

TTRPG Question of the Day

Have you ever gone against typical expectations?

Sometimes it can be fun to go against standard tropes. A shy bard or a pacifist barbarian. Perhaps you're a Jedi who refuses to use a lightsaber. Maybe you're not the standard dark, brooding vampire & are instead upbeat.

TTRPG Question of the Day

What do you think the most popular class is?

In any game that has a class or something adjacent, there always seems to be a couple that are the most popular. Maybe it's warlock in D&D or Tremere in VtM. What do you think the most popular class is in the game you play?

TTRPG Question of the Day

What personality traits do you think are most common in the TTRPG hobby?

People outside of the hobby often have certain assumption of people within it. They think TTRPG players are smart, or awkward, or dramatic, just to name a few. What traits do YOU think are common?

TTRPG Question of the Day

Do you remember your first TTRPG character?

Unless you're still playing your first character, this can be a serious challenge. Even if you do remember them, how much do you recall? Do you remember their name? Their story? Do you remember any of their stats or abilities?

TTRPG Question of the Day

Have you ever stopped supporting a game over personal objections?

This could be for any reason. Perhaps the company mistreats employees. Or maybe the messaging of the game shifted. Maybe you take issue with a designer or writer. If you have, what was the game & issue?

TTRPG Question of the Day

How much homebrewed content do you add to your game?

Whether adding monsters, gear, or powers, many GMs add new things to their campaigns. Some people will only add a slightly altered version of an existing thing, while others might add entirely original creations.
