The best concert I ever saw, and only one I ever attended alone, was D’Angelo with ?uestlove at the TLA in Philly.

D’Angelo was a musical genius of Prince/Sly Stone proportions. Massive genius.

RIP.

Here's a thing I did not expect to have happened this year: At 34 years old, J.T. Realmuto:

- led the Majors in innings caught
- had more innings caught than any C since Yadi back in 2016
had more innings caught than any Phillie since 1999.

What a beast (complimentary).

That anyone would be surprised that Roki Sasaki could excel as a closer is baffling to me.

However, it is a logical result of the popular groupthink that overinflates relieving and the value of relievers to that of starters and their role.

30,000 people paid to attend the Phillies play the Phillies in an intrasquad exhibition. Insane.

It’s very unsettling though.

Nola v. Harper.

Luzardo v. Schwarber.

Not sure when to cheer.

I am consistently amazed at how incompetent Democratic leadership is at messaging. Just totally incapable people.

They say so many words and give so much nuance when they need to just repeat three phrases:

Trump Shutdown
Trump Healthcare Tax
Release the Epstein Files

There are only 3 players who just completed their age 20-something season who are in the top 1000 in career rWAR.

Juan Soto (26) - 482nd
Cody Bellinger (29) - 869th
Ronald Acuña Jr. (27) - 948th

Juan Soto has more career WAR than Don Mattingly, Darryl Strawberry, Yadier Molina, Albert Belle, Dave Parker, and Phil Rizzuto.

Juan Soto is 26 years old.

Strong chance that the season will end with only ONE qualifying NL player with .300 BA or better.

Even prior to yesterday, Cal Raleigh would get my AL MVP vote.

Catchers deserve more credit.

Terry Francona has been a lock for the Hall of Fame for a while but his work with the Reds this year has been remarkable.

For me, if Cincy closes out the season strong, it really elevates Tito’s standing among all-time managers.

I would vote for Davey Johnson for the Hall of Fame.

He’s short as a manager, and short as a player, but his career meets the bar for me under Rule B for his “overall contribution to the game of Baseball.”

1 run and 4 hits tonight for Trea
scottlauber.bsky.social
Trea Turner came into tonight's game with ...

92 runs
174 hits
14 homers
36 stolen bases
.301 batting average

The only 100/200/15/30/.300 player in Phillies history is Ed Delahanty in 1893.

A Rap Dixon documentary will be shown at the Phoenixville Film Festival!

Ya! Someone else shared that with me too. Very wild.

J.T. Realmuto recently moved into 25th place in Catcher JAWS passing the inimitable Charlie Bennett.

2025 is Shohei Ohtani’s 5th season with at least:

300 total bases
10 stolen bases
10 intentional bases on balls

The only players with 5 or more seasons with those numbers are:

Aaron (8)
Mays (8)
Guerrero (6)
Bonds (6)
Griffey Jr. (6)
Ohtani (5)

That’s it

Nope, but I did find a Jackie Robinson!

Hey card-collecting friends.

What do you PC?

I’m going through tons of old baseball and basketball cards (mostly ca. 1986–2001) and would be happy to set aside stuff for folks at cost to ship.

Otherwise, it’ll end up in just a giant lot I’ll unload.

It stuck out to me too, though the full sentence is relevant: “Unrelenting ace was the rock of three franchises’ staffs, delivering each to the postseason.”

As I recall he did really pull that team into the playoffs with an amazing half season but yeah, makes me furrow my brow a tad.

Would be surprised if @adarowski.bsky.social isn’t already workin’ on it!

It could work that instead of the user having to click through all of the filters to execute a query you just ask for it as a prompt.

It could also show you the search parameters it ended up using so you can validate that it did what was expected.

Fun idea!

“rock” on Hall of Fame plaques

Sabathia: “the rock of three franchises’ staffs”

Helton and Walker: “Rockies”

Averill and Raines: Nickname “Rock”

Carter: “rock-solid defense”

Winfield: “rocket arm”

Brock: umm, B”rock”
louisville-slugger.bsky.social
Is “rock” mentioned on other plaques? Besides Raines : )

Thought in this case it was used a little liberally since CC was only on the Brewers for half a season.

Pivotal and critical for sure but to me “rock” signifies an element of long standing.
