Man, if only the Devils could find goalies like that
This /Avalanche goalie tandem is on a roll — coming off back-to-back shutouts. 🪵

Yankee owner Hal Steinbrenner was asked about comparing the Yankee style of play to Toronto's, and I thought his answer was really good, right on the mark.

Dan Quisenberry once had a 44-save season where he struck out 2.85/9, or 8%.

41 K in 506 batters faced.

We say "it's literally not the same game" a lot now, but, it's not.

Putting a lot of thought into the HOF ahead of my first vote, and I keep seeing: weak ballot, no one deserving, how can you vote for more than 2-3?

And .. I agree the first-year class isn't great. But depending on how you view things, there's 15-17 guys you could find a way to get there on.

The Blue Jays made an incredible run to the World Series, and while people want it so badly to be just about contact, it really wasn't.

On the 5 teams best positioned to follow the Toronto path to 2026 success:

Which team can emulate the 2025 Jays in '26?
Baseball can be a copycat sport, and everyone seems eager to take a lesson from the stunning Toronto run to the seventh game of the World Series, which goes something like this: Make more contact and ...

We're in for another winter of "so is Nolan Arenado getting traded, or what" discussion, but the fits are .. somewhat hard to find?

A 30 team countdown to find a new home, if there is one:

Counting down the top trade fits for Nolan Arenado
Nolan Arenado, potential future Hall of Famer, is going to get traded this winter. Probably. We say probably, because both sides have indicated it’s time for a change, with new Cardinals president of ...

Last year I came up with a way to show that Brandon Nimmo was one of the most underappreciated players in decades, and it still holds up:

He's the most underappreciated hitter in decades -- and he plays in NY!
For most of the past eight seasons, Brandon Nimmo has been one of the more reliable and productive players in the Majors. You don’t have to just take our word for it, of course: By FanGraphs' version ...

Initial feeling is this trade matters a ton (name value) and also maybe not all that much (2026-on baseball value)

The most fascinating free agent of the winter isn't Pete Alonso or Bo Bichette.

It's Luis Arraez. We finally get to see how teams really value batting average.

ah yes, those things that can famously be unilaterally voided: guarantees
BREAKING: Brandon Aiyuk’s 2026 guarantees were voided by the 49ers, sources tell me and @DMRussini.

Now, 15 months after signing a four-year extension worth $120 million, the two sides appear headed toward a stunning divorce.

This was really good
Two years ago, the Red Sox hired Craig Breslow with the hope he could retool their pitching development infrastructure. The debuts of Payton Tolle and Connelly Early show it's starting to work.

Just resurfacing some old work for when people argue the myth that the Baseball Hall of Fame is "too big and easy to get into" now, when the opposite is in fact true.

1) From 2020, proof that it's actually *harder* than ever to get in: www.mlb.com/news/hall-of...

With the release of the 2021 Hall of Fame ballot earlier this month, our thoughts turned to the institution of the Hall itself, and particularly this question: Are enough players being inducted? Or to...
