For over a decade I've been writing an album "about chasing shuttles."

But it's not really a collection of love songs about rockets.

It's about the *people* who made it go from spectacular to life-changing. Which is many of you!
I really wish reporters would stop asking athletes with dead parents what their parents would think of their medals.

"Congratulations! Let's immediately discuss the worst things about life so you can't possibly enjoy one moment of your victory without it being focused on death."

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

One of the reasons I love alpine ski racing is it is such a cooperative sport. Like larger teams "adopting" skiers from countries that don't have their own programs instead of hoarding the sports' institutional knowledge.

Training up their competitors, pretty cool!

Cutthroat with camaraderie.

Hoboken is closing each street for a night for snow removal. Anyone parked as of 6 pm is towed.

There are people all up and down the street practically hanging out the windows watching the few cars left get towed.

In a world of endless entertainment at our fingertips, we watch tow trucks.

We do!! Who's in? Where should we go?

I keep thinking a museum thing but most are in $$$$ places. 🤔
I think we need an east coast not official tweet-up or something….

Trying to navigate social media for the social while moderating things like news intake for mental health is a real challenge.

Balancing being informed with restoring oneself enough to keep going.

Merely existing right now is like being an aging athlete, how much to go hard vs how much to rest.

Cape May's "ghost tracks" are century-old, rusted railroad remnants buried in the sand at Higbee Beach and Sunset Beach in New Jersey, used for sand mining and World War I munitions, only appearing after major storms reveal them before being reburied again by sand.

15 years ago today I was recording for my #AbovetheSky EP.

Pretty sure this is "Connections", my song about meeting the #spacetweeps.

Had no idea then how much some of you would change my life forever, in the best ways.

But I clearly knew this was a special thing already.

You often hear/see the quote, "Sir, this is a Wendy's."

But the line in The Office is, "Dude, this is a Wendy's restaurant."

How did it mutate so quickly and while the show is still being watched constantly by millions?

Fascinating.

Living in a place that has gone through extreme gentrification is interesting.

Some new folks actively want to be part of this community they paid a fortune to move into. They're great.

But money also brings the extremely oblivious and selfish.

A big storm shows you exactly which is which.

I have climbed Plowed Snow Mountain and unearthed the Trunk of Many Things.

My Quest for the Unbroken Scraper is finished. On to the next Quest!

I hope everyone else affected by the storm is finding their way back to normal! Slow and steady is the only way out of ice.

Screw grand gestures, my man took my boots from the cold hallway and put them next to the radiator to get warm and soften up before I had to put them on.

Now THAT is romance of the highest order!

Catching up on 4 Continents and just started actually crying because Oona and Gage Brown's free dance to The Godfather won't be seen by the whole world at the Olympics.

Not crying for them, but for everyone who will watch the Games and not get to see the best free dance of the year, artistically.

Deeply wish people would stop censoring words on platforms that don't censor them.

It makes it really hard to avoid them through muting words and things.

It's like the rule on how you should always name Nassar so victims can block seeing the name until they are mentally ready.

Happy New Year!!

I'm watching my favorite kid jam on my beloved guitar, Jenny.

Once in a while, life tells you that you did something right. ♥️

Not a bad way to start a year.

Do what you can to make the world a little better in 2026!

In honor of Dick Van Dyke turning 100, I just tripped over my ottoman and landed right into a little dance flourish.

Got the best surprise treat today - spacetweep hugs! Amazing to see @anthrogeek.bsky.social and @redshift42.bsky.social again and share a delicious Ukrainian meal at an old favorite haunt, Veselka. Some things never go out of style, like friends and hearty winter nosh!

I was so excited for the 2025 election season to end with today's vote!

And then I got my first 2026 campaign ad.

Not fair. I just want a break for a few weeks. Is that a huge ask?

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans out there! And I hope everyone else takes a moment to appreciate the people, places, and things they are grateful for, too.

Gratitude really is best practiced all the time, not just on a holiday. ♥️

Feasts are probably best kept to holidays, though.

There is a special place in my heart for every designer and manufacturer who ensures the spray bottles they make always have the straw go all the way to the bottom front to make it easy to use almost every drop of the product.

Thank you for your diligence!

It seems very fitting that the last farmer's market is the Tues before Thanksgiving. I'm starting to think of going to grab apples as the real start to the holiday.

This year's pie will again feature Winesap, Macoun, Gala, and Empire apples grown in Sussex County, NJ. Blend killed last year!

Italian figure skater Matteo Rizzo is skating to Interstellar for his free this year and the commentator keeps saying his steps are supposed to make a "constellation star."

I assume he means the shape of a constellation and am trying to find out which one to no avail so far.

But really cool idea!

I’ve had the honor of working briefly with Sen. Kelly during the Shuttle program. STS-121 was my first and I helped train the crew on the Emergency Egress Slidewire (and the rest of the missions of that program). To see this non-sense from our government is just beyond words.
Sen. Mark Kelly has released a statement.

"If this is meant to intimidate me and other members of Congress from doing our jobs and holding this administration accountable, it won't work. I've given too much to this country to be silenced by bullies..."

The best way to really dig into cleaning is to have something even worse to procrastinate.

This includes different cleaning projects.

The rest of my kitchen is starting to look amazing while I masterfully avoid decluttering the table.
