it's pretty messed up that it took a pandemic for me to get my oral hygiene in order

still absolutely not willing to go to the dentist unless it's an emergency. it's been 6+ years since my last routine cleaning

but now i floss daily (thread & water), & brush + use hydroxyapatite mouthwash 2x/day
i'm gonna fucking scream if she genuinely thinks it's a fucking good idea to fucking run for president again
been trying to figure out why it's gotten so difficult to fall asleep if I'm at all hungry, & i'm still not ruling out the possibility of chronic illness contributing

but i just connected it to trauma zeph endured in not getting enough food at our dad's house (neglect, not financial instability)
🧪That's some of the trauma I hold. Somewhere. I was a kid. I forgot a lot of it. But sometimes phrases like that come up and I remember.

It's one of the phrases Dad would use. Usually just as a threat. To scare me and my brother back in line.
🌹had to literally just sit down on the floor in my bedroom bc the phrase "the beatings will continue until morale improves" came up in a podcast and it felt way too fucking familiar
i left the West Coast 18 months ago & southern California specifically 6 years ago

i did not sign up for summer weather extending into fucking October after moving to the Midwest
oh no

we accidentally unlocked a memory

it's not trauma, it's...

HEAD ON. APPLY DIRECTLY TO YOUR FOREHEAD.

i'm laugh-crying jfc this is what i get for exploring the recesses of our memory vault
🧪I think a lot about how Tetris can be lower the risk of PTSD if played soon after a traumatic event & how I absolutely loved to play Tetris at Dad's house (which is where I mostly existed, as my role was initially protecting Rose).

I feel like there's a braided essay in there somewhere.
i'm tired of having shoulder blades

i swear they're responsible for 90% of our chronic pain
got our COVID (Novavax) and flu shots yesterday! 30 hours later, only side effect was mild arm soreness

fyi, if you're in a state served by Publix, you can probably get Novavax there. we're in Indiana but 25min from a Publix in Kentucky, i went after therapy (since our therapist is in KY)
(to address the inevitable claim that "existing studies must've excluded pregnancies carried by autistic people", have you considered just how many autistic people -- esp those who aren't cisgender men -- have no fucking clue they're autistic until their kid gets a diagnosis?)
therefore: pregnant autistic people probably take more acetaminophen than their allistic (non-autistic) counterparts. they're also more likely to have autistic kids

& there are probably dozens of other hypotheses to consider before determining there's a causative relationship

(3/3)
if there's a connection between prenatal acetaminophen use & autism, it can't be proven causative without ruling out alternative hypotheses -- for example:

1) chronic pain conditions occur at an elevated rate in autistic adults, &
2) autism often runs in families

(2/3)
reminder that acetaminophen is basically the only pain med not contraindicated in pregnancy

NSAIDs aren't recommended as they can increase the risk of complications, esp after 20 weeks

opioids aren't recommended for obvious reasons

(1/3)
lmao, I'm getting an ultrasound & they have free water bottles by the entrance & a restroom right by the door to the clinic

ik why but also they're inadvertently taunting both the ppl who aren't supposed to eat/drink before their procedure & the ppl who aren't supposed to pee before their procedure
i did successfully get through to them about asbestos, after 10 months. they immediately turned to figuring out who'd misinformed them

didn't fight the other battles, or try to convince them that the city where they bought their car (30min from Portland) was most of the way to Oregon (from Olympia)
the same ex insisted asbestos were a species of mold & the only real "suburbs" of major cities were within city limits

none of this would've bothered me if they would've been willing to entertain the possibility that they were misinformed instead of treating me like i was a dumbass
just remembered the time my ex basically told me i had no idea what i was talking about when I said marionberries were just "pretentious blackberries"

not bc of any specific opinion they held abt the berries. but bc they refused to believe marionberries were a blackberry cultivar
nah you're also right, part of me isn't surprised, i just also have this idealistic/hopeful side that's been surprisingly resilient over the past decade of bullshit (ik it's much longer on a global scale, i just personally had the luxury of limited exposure until 2014-15ish)
yeah, i'm also just annoyed that outlets like the BBC chose that specific quote for their coverage, as though it's particularly relevant to the issue at hand
i also blame the news media for highlighting this part of the info we have so far bc it's such an absurd focus

"for a long time", at age twenty fucking two?? i guess that makes sense if you count the first 18 years?

but 4 years doesn't scream "a long time" to me, unless years are longer in Utah
seriously, 22 is the age of a recent college grad. can we not act like it's unhealthy to live w parents beyond age 18 in this economy?

like, even IF it has anything to do w this person's actions -- let's not pathologize all households that aren't 2 parents & 2 kids who move out before they turn 19
our society is fucking broken if it's reasonable for law enforcement to describe a 22-year-old as living w his parents "for a long time" as though

1) this experience is extraordinarily uncommon, esp among gen z, &

2) it has anything to do w criminal/violent behavior
all this to say: trans people NEVER had clear federal-level protections on par with other minority populations. of course we've become the easiest target

this is only surprising if you weren't paying attention
