I wrote this for an RSA event 12 years ago the last Year of the Horse when it was paired with the element of wood (this year it's fire). I think this was alluded to in Li Xiadong's installation. I was intimidated by its spiritual beauty, not something in my locker. But I knew I was lucky to be there

An old poem but having one about local dealers on scooters in the new Little Review brought it back. I had a site-specific joke to go with it but you really had to be there . . .

Trump:

"NATO has treated the United States very badly. We've never asked for anything. We've never got anything."

Tell that to the families of 850 soldiers from 19 non-US NATO countries who died fighting to defend the United States in Afghanistan - the only occasion Article 5 was ever triggered.

Farage has dropped out of BBC film following BBC row.

Good.

Access journalism is client journalism. The BBC should make a film about Reform whether or not Farage chooses to ‘sit down’ with Laura Kuensberg.

Great reporting from @willhaycardiff.bsky.social as always. Shocking to read of the abuse and threats he has received for simply doing his job. Much respect Will.

Also, do subscibe to Will's newsletter. Wales is guaranteed to be popcorn worthy for the next few months.

The poet Tony Harrison has died. For me, he was the most important poet of my lifetime. He gave speech to the tongue-tied and used the masks of classical theatre to amplify the voices of the working class.

Years ago, I read a John Sladek novel - The Müller - Fokker Effect. I thought it was funny then. Not so much now that it looks like it’s playing out in a 21st century style

Not even original
