The receptionist seemed shocked and slightly offended that I couldn't drop everything with almost no notice to fit their schedule.

I get it, unexpected stuff happens. But they give me less than a week's notice of the date/time, and I've scrambled to get time off for this (work policy is two weeks notice for holiday bookings), all for naught.

And will have to do it all again soon. And when I explained I need more notice...

FFS. Was due to have a minor op today, so both I and the missus used a days holiday for it. Booked for 2:30. Just got a message to say it's been cancelled.

So we've both wasted a days holiday on a random Thursday. And will need more when they re-book it.

Of course, he is a much nicer, more sociable boy than I ever was, but right now he's unhappy (there have been tears this evening), all because of some brain dead decision by the school.

I am angry, and terrified his school years will be as bad as mine. I had nightmares well into adulthood about my time at secondary school, and he doesn't deserve that.

... but seemingly that changed at some point, and the school never deigned to tell us. So, like me, all his friends are in one class, whilst him and two.other kids from his school are in a class full of strangers.

This has touched a nerve with me. The missus is going to talk to the school...

That isolated me at a time I was nervous as Hell, and led to me being bullied, and made my years there absolute misery. My parents spoke to the school, but they said "Give it a try".

When that didn't work it was "too late to change classes". This time the group were supposed to be going as one...

Schools... why are they like this?

The boy has just started secondary school, and they have done the exact same thing with him that my secondary school did to me: separated a handful of people from friend groups, and out them in classes on their own.
