I installed Mint on my old laptop about a month ago, really stoked on it, it's my first time messing with linux. I already use open source software (Firefox, Krita for drawing, Blender, Godot for gamedev, Reaper/audacity for music, Kdenlive for vid edits) Basically zero friction coming from windows.

I'm exactly the same. The only way I can motivate myself to get good at something is imagining other people enjoying/benefiting from whatever the fruits of that thing may be. I feel that was common when we still had subcultures, before everyone's social life became hyper atomized and transactional.
