You might already know why, but they screwed up Infinite's launch really badly and then got stuck with an engine they spent a lot of time and money on and then because of MS contractor policy, ended up with nobody working there that knew how to use it. 10 year plan died as soon as Infinite launched.
I was expecting you to get like a Bear Guy and a Ball. I'd be happy with those if they weren't dupes(and I, you know, actually collected Gunpla).
As much as I think some "tropes" like "Seinfeld is unfunny" are useful to explain things like modern anime dorks not understanding why something like Evangelion was massively influential, it's probably a good thing if tv tropes dies because of its own stupidity.
TV Tropes is blocking access to the site not only if you have ad blockers on but location tracking off unless you want to subscribe to their $5 a month/$25 a year subscription plan. Even people who have turned their ad blockers off are reporting the site isn’t working. This all seems like a bad idea
Side note, but it's very likely some scenes in Boiling Point had an influence on my 2nd favourite movie, Wong Kar-wai's Fallen Angels. Apparently, Wong was a fan of Takeshi's and they've actually met and became friends.
Overall, while Boiling Point definitely feels like someone's first ever writing and editing project, it is weirdly fascinating and shows how a strong ending can elevate something that is often meandering and seemingly pointless.
All that said, the ending really brings it all together and lets you recontexualize everything you have just seen and I think if the movie had any other ending, it would have been a complete failure as a film. It's something only a dark comedy infused man like Takeshi could make work.
It's poorly edited at times, with it jumping all over and no real explanation or reference for location and time jumps. Plus, the writing isn't really good. Takeshi's real strength at this point was how he just kinda knew how long to let a scene play out to make you uncomfortable.
I didn't really know what to feel while watching this. Much of it is just seemingly pointless baseball or pointless Beat Takeshi scenes where he's doing horrible stuff to people who don't seem to really mind. I was really starting to question a lot of things in this movie as it went on.
I watched the Japanese film Boiling Point. Written/Directed/Edited by Beat Takeshi. Starring Yûrei Yanagi & Beat Takeshi. This is the 2nd movie Takeshi directed, but the first one he got to write and edit and you can really tell. It's a fascinating movie despite its struggles. #filmsky
Watching Cate Blanchett is the opposite of gay, you absolute fraud!!!
This is by far the most fucked up I've been after getting a vaccine. I think it's because I started a new prescription at the same time, but man, I can't sleep and I feel like puking from time to time on top of the usual vaccine fatigue stuff.
Also on Kanopy if you have a library card.
A Samurai in Time is now on Tubi for anyone in NA that was having a hard time finding it.
Tubi got a huge drop of Asian movies recently and I could make a list of good stuff to check out, but I don't think anyone that would see it would be interested lol.
The switch to UE 5 for the Halo remake is so fucking funny if you know what went wrong with Halo Infinite. All that effort on a new engine for Infinite and they destroyed it all by having the dumbest contract policies imaginable. They literally couldn't fix ANYTHING when Infinite launched lol.
I feel like because it's the 25th anniversary, that the remake isn't a bad idea, or wouldn't be if they actually had something else announced or planned. It's very lazy of them to just assume Halo on PS5 is enough to save a brand they have absolutely ruined over the last 15 years.
I really love Halo: Combat Evolved and love any excuse to replay Halo: Combat Evolved but I’m not going to lie, putting out another remake and rerelease of Halo: Combat Evolved feels like the most “we don’t know what to do with Halo anymore, hit the emergency button” decision one could make

If it was a new game, it'd probably be a big deal. Instead, we get yet another "remake" of a game stuffed into UE5.
People are overreacting to Halo being on PS5 though. Like, Halo is a fucking dead as fuck brand lol. The only thing MS has killed off harder than the Xbox brand is Halo.
Master Chief Collection on PS5 would have been way more interesting than a Halo 1 remake.

i love halo so much and i also have to be honest that a remake of combat evolved is on its face one of the most blatantly uninteresting ideas you could possibly put in front of me
I will hate this man forever for taking Phoebe Cates from us.
Twitch giving me the same ad twice, except once in English and the other in French sure is annoying.
All of which are better than Shenmue 3.
