This is probably just going to be dog and garden photos…
Lies I tell myself to get through the day:

Yes, this is the last reusable coffee cup you will buy. You won’t loose it this time or start hating its texture. It has a place for your name and order. It has nice colours. This is the one.

Brain, don’t fail me now…

My brain has three modes

1. Don’t know, don’t care, you choose

2. Let me tell you my 16 point thesis on why all edible leaves should be classified ‘lettuce’

3. I think that was a cat. People should keep cats in doors. I should buy Lego minifigures. Did I book accommodation? What’s that sound?

As someone in their mid-40’s, somehow I skipped the concept of grammar and pronunciation at school. There are some things that I know, but I absolutely don’t understand about my own language.

So here I am, minding my own business, suddenly learning about the Bossy E… 🤯

Picked up Blue Prince on the recommendation of a mate, and it is on point. That said, each time the run is over I’m like:

Lately, I’ve been playing around with knotwork, trying to untangle how to make the lines do swirly cool things.

Not sea glass but fragments of plastic car tail lights, indicators and brake lights, probably washed into storm drains after heavy rain, eventually making their way to the sea. #oceanplastic

Today I’ve planted more things and attempted to seed harvest from the very large patty pan squash from last week. I tried this a few weeks ago, and accidentally made a smell that evacuated the house. The smell startled my dog. Fingers crossed this goes better!

I’ve been with Luke since 1999. Sometimes people ask me, “How does one build a relationship that can withstand the trials and tribulation of life?”…

It’s all about effective communication.

Happy 35th Birthday Adobe Photoshop!

On February 19, 1990, Adobe Systems released a raster graphics editor called Photoshop 1.0.

I went away for a weekend, and came home to find this monster of a patty pan squash. Wild. I have no idea what the squiggly bits are on it, I’ll have to do some research. Also, a row of carrots has sprouted!

A pretty little mushroom spotted in my garden this morning. A reverse google image search tells me it might be Parasola auricoma? I love the smell of petrichor after a storm, but mushroom spotting is a very close second :)

Second weekend of staggered planting:

On the upside, anything that went into a punnet seems happy, and ai noticed the direct planted beans are growing.

On the downside, I don’t know if it was the sun or the make-do seed tape, but carrots/beetroots/raddish seem to have stalled.

Just started listening to the podcast “Come out, wherever you are”, which is great. As someone who worked themselves out way late in life, resources like these are invaluable :)

It is hotter than a volcanic fart, but I sorted out the first week of February’s plantings today. I’m going to try and stagger it a bit, because 400 Brussell Sprouts at the same time seems like a mistake. Hopefully they’ll grow!

The best part of House Flipper 2 is painting directly onto brick, no under coat, no prep, no specialized paint, and it comes out like perfectly painted plaster. This is the dream.

In gamedev, we joke about how we shouldn't care so much because "we ain't curing cancer" so chill, right?

But you know what? These last few weeks reminded me that the Arts, esp accessible Art like videogames is incredibly important because games have a big place in sculpting cultural norms.

Whoops! I think I let this one get a little big! I found it hiding at the back of the plant. I think the vine might be towards the end of its season and I’ve just learned what powdery mildew is (dang it).

I think I’m going to try saving seeds from these two :)

Ordered seeds from The Diggers Club for February planting! I’m trying to work out a timed system, so that the food is spread out over the month… the maths is amusing…

Meanwhile, check out this crimson rosella snacking in my front yard :)
