Today I’ve planted more things and attempted to seed harvest from the very large patty pan squash from last week. I tried this a few weeks ago, and accidentally made a smell that evacuated the house. The smell startled my dog. Fingers crossed this goes better!

A rainbow lorikeet, spotted this morning while walking to the markets :)
A pretty little mushroom spotted in my garden this morning. A reverse google image search tells me it might be Parasola auricoma? I love the smell of petrichor after a storm, but mushroom spotting is a very close second :)

Second weekend of staggered planting:
On the upside, anything that went into a punnet seems happy, and ai noticed the direct planted beans are growing.
On the downside, I don’t know if it was the sun or the make-do seed tape, but carrots/beetroots/raddish seem to have stalled.

Today I learned this tree is a Cordyline australis! And apparently you are meant to actually give it a prune occasionally by encouraging the bottom leaves to come off. I think it probably needs a bit more, but it’s looking a bit better 🙂

Today I learned this tree is a Cordyline australis! And apparently you are meant to actually give it a prune occasionally by encouraging the bottom leaves to come off. I think it probably needs a bit more, but it’s looking a bit better 🙂

This time, some critter had the nerve to leave the tomato skins after feasting on my garden.
How rude!
That being said, imagining the little criminal hands wrapped around a tomato, is kind of delightful. Must be a very happy (and full) possum.
