Today's movie was 1948's Mr. Blandings Builds his Dream House, with Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas. I hadn't seen that one in decades. Forgot how much I like Myrna Loy, and what an interesting face she had. To a large degree I thought Melvyn stole the show. He's great in all his scenes.

Random panels from Tsutomu Nihei's TOWER DUNGEON, contrasting a simplicity of detail Alex Toth would have loved with a mastery of light & shadow, and of perspective.

Yesterday I learned these existed. Today I have them. No wall between thought and deed.

For my money, BATMAN/DEADPOOL was superior to DEADPOOL/BATMAN, but that's not surprising with Grant Morrison writing the DC half of the crossover. Still, the highlight for me was seeing John Constantine contrasted with Doctor Strange.

It is the Birthday of writer Roy Thomas, the man who introduced me to Conan the Cimmerian and thus to the genre of sword & sorcery, in 1973. Lancer books had folded and Conan was out of print, so it was a while before I could read REH prose. Many years later I got Roy to sign my copy of CtB #36

Here's a photo memory, @briankeene.bsky.social . That time I signed the signature sheets at NECON for CLICKERS FOREVER.

The last of the Cormac Mac Art pastiches I needed to complete the set. I wanted the Jeff Jones cover, so had to look around a bit.

I've said it before, but Alex Horley would have been a great Conan artist in the original days of Savage Sword of Conan. He really has the vibe.

I've been saying for years someone should collect all of Barry Smith's non-Conan work for Marvel in one place. And now they are. So I was right. Again.

Frankenstein was released today in 1931. I don't think enough has been said about Boris Karloff's influence on Jacob Elordi's performance as the Frankenstein Monster. Without Karloff's sensitive, moving portrayal, I don't think we'd have Elordi's vulnerable, tragic monster.
