This is one of my favorites of Brian’s and that’s saying a lot.
My all-time favorite.
If I had to pick just one role, I’d say Augustus McCrae in Lonesome Dove. Impossible to go back and reread those novels after watching the series and *not* hear Duvall’s voice.
And my runner up would be his under-appreciated performance in Falling Down.

I wouldn't know where to begin. He was a MASTER of craft. One of the most human, deepest, bad ass actors/artists of my lifetime. BUT this one here, masterclass in emotional honesty.
