1/ My day on the blog tour for "The Winter Job" by Antti Tuomainen, who turns a seemingly mundane cross-country furniture delivery into a darkly humorous thriller which was SO much fun to read! @orendabooks.bsky.social @annerandomthings.bsky.social

"The circle is the synthesis of the greatest oppositions. It combines the concentric and the eccentric in a single form and in equilibrium. Of the three primary forms, it points most clearly to the fourth dimension."

Congratulations to @ianrankin1.bsky.social for the #VeniceNoir award! Beautiful work of Murano glass.
ICYMI... the very worthy winner of the first Venice Noir award, a glass sculpture from the legendary Murano furnace of Barovier e Toso. Had to be @ianrankin1.bsky.social didn't it?

PREACH! #AI, destroyer of worlds
The time of 'I tried it so you don't have to' has long passed. Every person experimenting with the theft-bot just adds to the waste of energy & water. The images now exist and are on social media. They will be added to the noise of fake historical images online. It's a circle of shite.

Cautionary thread from @fakehistoryhunter.net on #AI, specifically #GeminiAI, and its myriad problems.
So you can as Gemini AI to generate an image of a specific place at a specific time.
The result is interesting, I must admit, but historically accurate?
No, of course not.

I asked it to generate an Image of Dam Square on May 7th, 12:30 and 12:40.

I don't use #PayPal but I know that millions do. Here's a warning from @bennyjross.bsky.social
PayPal has rolled out a new "feature" that prompts you to leave feedback about an artist that you've commissioned via invoice.

Whatever you do, DO NOT fill this out! To quote Admiral Ackbar, "IT'S A TRAP!!!" It is meant to misguide you.

Very powerful. #LLM #AI
Never seen it put this way and it's really powerful.
I think the shortest version of why LLMs are an anti education technology is that education is fundamentally about making shared context to understand ourselves, each other, and the world

And by design LLMs destroy shared context
