Can't honestly say I feel a lot poorer after that budget. Even with an extra 3p a mile for using my EV. All the pre-Budget howls from the likes of the Mail, urging us to leave the country, look rather silly now, don't they?

This law sounds a very good idea. Someone said to me recently that Meloni's govt is, in some ways, turning out to be more liberal than Starmer's. They may have a point. She introduced the law.

I’m just finishing @davidhewson.com’s excellent #TheFourDeadlySeasons. Next on my reading list is Nick Black’s #BareKnuckleSurgeon, the story of Thomas Wakley, who founded The Lancet. It includes ‘incompetent surgeons, corrupt royal colleges, nepotism and quackery’ - I can’t wait to read it!

This year's debut Venice Noir generated 28 newspaper articles, 72 web articles, numerous social media posts and 14 TV interviews. I'd upload the proof but the media report doc is 75mb! Well done everyone!

The government really has to do something about Musk's propaganda machine. This is a direct attempt by a hostile party to interfere in the politics of the UK. Why are the govt still on there for one?
This is one of the big accounts boosting Tommy Robinson, Farage and Reform and ‘English Patriots’.

It’s Russian.

In 1990, 943 million people in China lived on less than $3 a day measured in 2021 dollars – 83% of the population, according to the World Bank. By 2019, the number was brought down to zero. In the US more than 4 million Americans live on less than $3 a day, 3x as many as 35 years ago.
China has brought millions out of poverty. The US has not – by choice
Despite the US’s economic success, income inequality remains breathtaking. But this is no glitch – it’s the system

Walked up lane and found elderly farmer neighbour admiring a newly arrived flock of 300 sheep.
‘Know how many ewes a ram can cover in one night,’ he asks.
‘Not a clue.’
‘Guess.’
‘Ten?’
‘Twenty.’ Scratches chin. ‘Got one up on us, ain’t they?’

I don't doubt that some women feel unsafe walking in the dark, but this article would have been much improved if the writer had included the information that most violence against women is committed by people we know and not by randoms on the street.
'Dark winter nights feel like an unspoken curfew for women'
Women in the north west of England speak of how they have to be more cautious as nights turn dark.

We were in my favourite place in the world, so this one was a joy to film!

It’s kind of a love letter to the to city.

Give it a watch.
We’ve spent hundreds of days in Venice and it still surprises us. Our new vlog is all about those little moments that make the city feel like home.
