10 years ago a studio exec after reading I script I had spent a year working on told me that my script was awful and I didn’t have a chance of making it in the film industry. Well, ten years later today I realized he was probably right. Shit I thought this story was going to be more inspiring.

The Hill (1965) is Sean Connery’s Look Back in Anger. Rather than Jimmy Porter’s windy angst, Connery’s busted sergeant is a man despairing and furious at an order that has failed him.

The problem with big budget movies today (& why they become expensive) is all genres end up being ACTION movies. Frankenstein is an ACTION movie dressed as horror. 3/4s of The Rip is a great cop film. The rest pure ACTION. And the problem with ACTION is it stops story (It shouldn’t but it does).
