Today's my day on the blog tour for Guðrún Guðlaugsdóttir's "A Lethal Legacy"!

"Guðlaugsdóttir's deceptively simple style is once again irresistible..."

Definitely! I became a book blogger due to social media. I feel joy in promoting independent bookstores and publishers, authors, and translators. I've also discovered many worthy causes, such as animal sanctuaries, that I help out when I can. And I found out about #uglydogs. It's possible!

COLUMBO S2, E1 -- hadn't seen ETUDE IN BLACK + yes it has Falk pal & Oscar nominee John Cassavetes (and his hair) as an egotistical maestro but big deal to me is the victim is played by Anjanette Comer, who grew up in Dawson TX, where I had a ton of family, & was my great-aunt's neighbor

Simon's final line is the kicker #AI

I don't like him personally, but David Simon on AI is the final word on the subject.

You know what the best thing is about independent bookstores? EVERYTHING.

Jeff Bezos might have built a spaceship, but indie bookstores build and nurture whole communities and that is *way* more impressive and valuable.

As I've said from the dawn of the #AI bubble...there is NOTHING it cannot steal, destroy or mutilate. I cannot WAIT for this bubble to burst; what would be a good book title?

It will also disconnect students from each other—and in a world fractured by various flavors of technofascism, I cannot think of a more disastrous thing (which is likely partly why AI fetishists are pushing for AI in schools and universities)

“One of the negative consequences AI is having on students is that it is hurting their ability to develop meaningful relationships with teachers, the report finds. Half of the students agree that using AI in class makes them feel less connected to their teachers.”

It’s Banned Books Week! 🚫📚

This week is dedicated to fighting book bans, during a time when censorship is more relevant than ever. Book bans disproportionately target underrepresented voices and themes about race, gender identity, and sexual identity and orientation.

Just got some early bound manuscripts of Dead Weight in the mail and I was gonna take cute photos with Uggi to share on social media but … I don’t think he likes my new book?

Uggi sent me a text about it, but asked me not to tell you. I could never betray Uggi's confidence.

Carol thought a sun hat might help. It didn’t.
Fluffy, reclining, light beige dog, wearing white rimmed sunglasses, a yellow and green crotched hat, and a world-weary expression.
