and @lauralippman.bsky.social mentioned this episode w/Columbo promoting a sexist idea that a beautiful woman would not commit suicide -- he says this twice and it's aged very badly. Myrna Loy is a delight in this, I wish they had called her Mrs. Charles, though. columbophile.com/2016/09/24/e...
Episode review: Columbo Etude in Black
Columbo’s hotly-anticipated second season kicked off in grand style with the big budget Etude in Black, guest starring Peter Falk’s BFF John Cassavetes. But does it live up to the hype?…

COLUMBO S2, E1 -- hadn't seen ETUDE IN BLACK + yes it has Falk pal & Oscar nominee John Cassavetes (and his hair) as an egotistical maestro but big deal to me is the victim is played by Anjanette Comer, who grew up in Dawson TX, where I had a ton of family, & was my great-aunt's neighbor

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

a can of soup with a purple label, labelled Amy's Organic Soups at the top, at the bottom labeled Dal Makhani, Creamy Lentil & Beans

a picture of the soup in a bowl is in the middle of the label

"People called politics the art of the compromise, but only people who had no fucking clue. Politics was the art of trampling opposition into the dust and convincing them they liked it there." -- Mick Herron, CLOWN TOWN

Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.
To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough,
, just so
other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Gross. And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future. Al is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.

performances were great, well-written show, a 70s-style paranoid political thriller dropped into an existing sci-fi IP.
A big swing, and it connected (for me).

I like Star Wars a normal amount; I think ANDOR was brilliant. So much has been said for the timeliness of the story, people smarter than I am have covered that.

I thought one great aspect of the show was the design aesthetic; it looked like it could have evolved from a 1977 movie. So detailed.

my grandmother refused to listen to (in order)
- her daughter
- her 5 sisters and 4 brothers
- her brother-in-law, the county sheriff
finally 15 minutes talking with me & I had her keys, she was willing to argue w/everyone except her grandchildren. She never drove again.
