Dismayed at the current state of conservative Christianity.
Those who claim that the 1st amendment is only for Christians do not know their history. Roger Williams and William Penn (Founders of Rhode Island and Pennsylvania) both established these colonies with religious freedom for ALL which was the basis of the 1st Amendment.

Decided to read "The Bloody Tenent of Persecution for Cause of Conscience" by Roger Williams.

This treatise, though a difficult read, was extremely influential in both US History, (1st amendment) and early American Baptist theology and History.

"Follow me as I follow Christ" wrote the apostle Paul.

This tells us that if Paul stopped following Christ, believers should stop following Paul.

Yet many churches view the pastor as Gods annointed, not to be questioned. This leads to the church being led by wolves rather than shepherds.

I’ll never forget the Sunday morning when my parents’ pastor, one of the most prominent pastors in this town, declared from the pulpit that Trump was “the most pro life president ever”

Friends he is not pro life, in any sense. His words are the words of death, darkness, and cruelty. Not of life.

Ronald Reagan did to Evangelicalism what Constantine did to Christianity in Rome.

He recognized a potentially untapped source of political support and power in the church and convinced the church he was on their side.

Reading about Roger Williams and discovered that he believed Constantine was a worse enemy to Christianity than Nero. (I have myself believed this for a while)

Nothing good comes from a joining of religion and secular government.

Technology is just another type of tool. When it stops empowering people to get stuff done it no longer serves its purpose.

Glad to see an influential site and group address this.

When technology no longer serves users, it is pointless.

We should never accept the excuse that something is "too hard/ complicated" when it comes to agents of the government obeying the law. Expediency is not more important than doing it the right way. '

The reason the second strike is so awful is because there is no possible justification for it that wouldn't have been solved by sending a ship to pick up and arrest the two men. They were stranded at sea. '

The motto on the US money should be "in THIS god we trust". The true god of the USA has always been money. Unfortunately many in the church really worship money as well.

One of the distinctive beliefs that historically separated Baptists from many other Christian denominations was separation of church and state. Unfortunately most modern day Baptists have forgotten this.
