Fair point on the extension part. My point about the last year of McDavid’s contract turning into a gong show if they haven’t won the cup or come close before that final year still stands. The Oilers are going to have to get it done asap.

If people want to be realistic, the #oilers probably only have this year to win the cup.

Imagine if they get swept in the first round this year, what the narrative will be leading into the summer and throughout McDavid's "final year" as an Oiler. That pressure will be more than any team to handle.
