I had transferred, restored, rebuilt, and reinstalled almost everything, but forgot about that.

Oh well. If nothing falls apart live in front of an audience, where's the fun in building it in the first place?

Anyway, it was fun, it's done, and now I don't have to do it again.

I finally put the final pieces together with about ten minutes to spare before I had said I was going to stream, so *qualified yay* there. I was feeling pretty good about it until the very end, when I brought up the new final credits scene I had been working on... and it was in the wrong font. (6/)

That led to me recovering and reinstalling stuff that I really shouldn't have had to even touch for most of the afternoon. I could claim that it was a "disaster recovery exercise" and that I had met my MTTR goals so it was a big success, but it lacked the *fun* of doing things the hard way. (5/)

I eventually decided that I was running out of time and couldn't take a deep dive into modern boot troubleshooting so I went with plan B -- Which is supposed to be plan A, but it's boring so I always skip it. I reinstalled the OS and restored from the backup.

*YAWN*

Bo-ring.

But it worked.

Since I'm telling this story, you can guess the answer to that question. Nothing went right, the new drive image refused to boot and nothing I did could make it work.

Fortunately I could just put the original disk back in and pretend nothing had happened, but where's the fun in that? (3/)

I had a smallish SSD that had just been upgraded, so all I needed to do was drop it in there, resize the existing system drive and copy it over to the new drive. Easy, and I've done before.

Well, I had done it before in the days before UEFI and Windows Boot. But how hard could it be? (2/)

Well. I had a little computer drama today, but managed to pull through it and even streamed on time when it was all done.

It all started out easily enough. I needed to juggle some hard drives around and wound up with next to no storage on my streaming PC. Not to worry, though. I had a plan. (1/)

Last night I finally managed to dig into "Star Trek: 25th Anniversary". Oh boy. I had forgotten just how 1992 games from 1992 were.

I complain about how much hand holding goes on in modern games, but not having to, oh, write down sixteen digit numbers is something I had gotten used to.

I was in the same situation a few weeks ago so what I ended up doing was grabbing about a dozen games that I would consider playing but really wasn't sold on, and gave each one half an hour to impress me. It didn't solve the problem, but it was six hours of playing games.
