I hear you. I still wonder if the EU had been tougher on Orbán as soon as we started witnessing the shift away from democratic norms, other countries would have stayed in line. Poland's PIS clearly saw they could imitate Hungary without having to fear much for instance.

Orbán wants us to believe Ukraine is not a sovereign state because it has lost 1/5 of its territory. Hungary lost 2/3 of its land after Trianon (a trauma for the whole country still to this day for some). If we follow the same reasoning, Hungary is not sovereign either. (We know it's Russian.)
