I thought the concept of mean world syndrome was interesting. I experience it a lot with my grandparents and parents. They believe Madison to be way less safe than it is and every time they hear news of violence on or near campus they use it to prove their belief to me.

After reading the article, Scoops, Impact, or Glory: What Motivates Reporters? I felt that being first with new facts or insights could be a harmful motivation for reporter accuracy. It can go against the news value timeliness if the reporting is rushed and lacks proper research. #UWJ201 #312

In lecture, we learned about the limits to agenda-setting and one was the new media environment. I am wondering if agenda-setting really does not happen on social media platforms and what effect that will have in the future if we continue to move away from traditional news media use.
