I feel like we’re more prone to attack news broadcasters today because there’s less trust in traditional media and more polarization in politics. This tone shift shows that our society is more divided and quicker to question authority. #UWJ201 #312

Yes, I think it's necessary to explain why someone is being deplatformed. Transparency helps build trust between users and the platform. If someone gets banned or removed without knowing why, it can feel unfair. When platforms clearly explain their rules and the specific reason for the action, it

I believe that the central route of persuasion generally leaves decision makers more satisfied. Because it involves careful, deliberate processing of information, the decision maker is likely to feel more confident and committed to their choice. #UWJ201 #312

I feel like social proof is the most effective way to persuade audiences. When people are uncertain about something they are more likely to turn to other people like them to make that decision. I think it is especially effective now with online reviews and influencers. #UWJ201 #312

Hi Lucy, this is a really great point that I did not think of.

Great question! I think one way this could be done is media could show extreme views on both sides equally while remaining neutral in its stance on the issue.

A lot of aspects go into making a good marketing campaign, including a compelling message, a good offer, a call to action, a defined audience, and more. SC Johnson did a great job at hitting these points and that's why it was so impactful.

That is a great question. I think that people would benefit from having that taught in schools, especially as the younger generations grow up on the Internet and social media.

Healthier for our society, part of that shift would need to come from advertising companies.

This is a great question! I think that the increased inclusion of diverse bodies in advertising is the first step in promoting body positivity for all women. Overall, I believe a decreased emphasis on physical attributes and a higher appreciation for women’s intelligence and capabilities would be

I think that a government controlled social media platform would bring about too many issues concerning government control and censoring even if I helped with content regulation.

This is a good example of those advertising strategies! The first thing that comes to my mind is the notifications I get from Shien about their constant flash sales, which I think is funny because it is already so cheap. #UWJ201 #312

I think that many people seek out information that confirms their biases. So, for some the first story might be enough to satisfy their beliefs while those who disagree may spend more time searching for more information. #UWJ201 #312

I feel like this is less of an issue with the older generation and more of an issue with people in general. We learned earlier this semester about filter bubbles and how people search for news to confirm their personal bias. I think that is what is happening here with both generations.

Really good question! When companies lie or omit the truth to persuade an audience that is definitely immoral. As long as that is not happening, it is up to the audience to do their own research and make judgments from there.

While I think that this doctrine has good intentions it involves too much government censorship. Media companies are allowed to report on their opinions, so it is ultimately up to consumers to properly educate themselves on all opinions.
