This includes Flock, FUSUS, and license plate readers. Asheville uses federal funds to implement surveillance systems, and though we don't proactively share data with the federal government, we are not permitted to withhold it, and cannot prove that the companies do not turn over data on our behalf.

This is critical, ensuring that the fourth amendment is not only understood, but embraced by our city.

We have a duty to honor our own rights enshrined by the constitution against unlawful search and seizure, and every step we take to step into that power, is a step in the right direction.
1. Adopt 4th amendment workplace policy and provide training for city staff.

Joining Carrboro and Durham, Asheville could provide training for first responders as well as the parks, sanitation, and water department to know what to do when constitutional rights of residents are being violated.

Hi everyone, just a friendly reminder that I'm not talking about local things much today because both my wife and I are on the phone with my health insurance because they won't pay for her lifesaving medication and we run out in 4 days.

If he wants to declare martial law, he will. It won't be based on reality. I don't know why some people continue to say: "be peaceful or he'll invoke martial law." Are you all living in this country in 2026???? Haven't you seen them make things up out of whole cloth???? Are you 10 years old?

A Washington Post article suggests that, beyond a certain threshold, larger homes don't make people happier. Instead, well-being is correlated with affordable housing in walkable neighborhoods where they feel socially connected.

If Dems talked like this regularly, we wouldn't have to focus on "how to win close elections in difficult environments." We would have a lot fewer close elections, and a lot fewer difficult environments.
Walz is out of Fs: "Not a single Republican supported this, so every Minnesotan from here on, whoever uses this program, there is no bit of thanks that would go to the R legislators who did all they could to stop this ... our schools have money to pay their teachers? I'll take credit for that too."

It's just so wild that when the history books will look back on this moment, that decolonisation for the most part was a blip in history. Unless the colonialist mindset continues to win and the history books call this decolonisation again.

I did too much anti-war organizing in the 2000s to not listen to my gut when the president starts opening his mouth about what other countries are guilty of.

Can you be shocked, and still unsurprised at how the Trump administration comports itself?

They want everything, and to subjugate everyone not like them. They want to take the wealth of the world, not for all us, but for those few they see as worthy.

Such a great rebuttal by David King on how wealth and understanding aren't the same thing, and how trusting billionaires with our climate is only gonna make things worst.

They're gonna be fine, they have bunkers. What about the rest of us?

Me. Talking about Asheville's housing crisis in social media form.

America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.
