The Trump-Vance mass deportation plans are sickeningly extreme. Most Americans don't support them and Dems have room to go on offense on this. Ad by me and the geniuses I am incredibly lucky to work with at Way to Win, production by Conexión. (both not on here yet)
This is the right path
Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

ICE agents are America's failures, basically indistinguishable from lazy school shooters, losers who want to play Call of Duty on our streets against people who can't fight back. They have unlimited ammo and toss tear gas like they're pressing L1. They have to be defunded and jailed. All of them.

BTW this is one reason why we absolutely need swift justice and extremely harsh sentencing for rogue federal agents. These people only understand force and punishment. Nothing else will get through to them.
The reason why ICE agents keep trying to deter resistance through threats of violence—even though these threats and the violence itself have had the opposite effect—is because they’re such cowards that they can’t even understand the psychology of non-cowards.

All of this is fucking senseless. Minnesota did not have an immigration problem. Trump sent his Nazi thugs here because he's racist against Somali people and to own libs like Tim Walz. Now two Minnesotans are dead and Minneapolis is on the verge of going up in flames. None. Of. This. Was. Necessary.

ICE detain yet another minor child—chase him down his own street and tackle him to pavement.

"I am legal! I am legal!" he cries over and over in Spanish.

Democrats shouldn't try to close ICE detention facilities but instead focus on fostering a culture of abundance within those ICE detention facilities

There's another action item here, which is to try to provide at least some countervailing power to #3, the consultants and group chats getting this kind of thing hideously wrong. That's what we're trying to do with Charting the Way Forward (both the pod and the substack). Your shares really do help!
My honest best take on what's happening with ICE funding. I got it down to 10 points:
1) Trump/Miller/GOP want more ICE funding
2) Dem leadership doesn't want it but also doesn't see a way to stop it without focusing attention on it.
3) Dems consultants say focus on ICE is a political loser.

This is the crux of it. But this vote is a massive positioning failure since now Rs can go around telling voters ICE can’t be that bad, a bunch of Dems voted for it, it’s bipartisan, etc etc.
I don't know man. It feels both small ball and existential simultaneously. It's true that it ultimately would have passed regardless. But are we really a party that can't unify against the fascist secret police? What are we doing here? What is the point of an opposition party if we just accept this?

Little but very real shard of hope here.
Update: The minibus that included HHS funding passed the House without any anti-trans riders. This almost guarantees the HHS bill will pass the Senate with no anti-trans riders. A huge victory for trans people despite tons of anti-trans attack ads.
HUGE NEWS for trans people: We have the latest minibus, including the bill to fund the Department of Health and Human Services and it looks like there are no restrictions on gender-affirming care for transgender people.

This is not materially different from Josef Mengele. The concept is to deliberately expose people to serious harm so you can gather more data on what you already know will hurt them. It's not some big coincidence the Nuremberg Code expressly prohibits everything resembling this kind of "science."
RFK Jr. appointee Kirk Milhoan has just clearly stated, out loud, that he wants to experiment on the people of the United States by seeing what happens as vaccination coverage plummets and infectious diseases spread.

First, Liam’s father was in the process of an asylum claim, FOLLOWING THE LAW, and was not in any way breaking the law. Second, the father pleaded with the mother not to open the door. It’s not that she “refused to take her son.”
Reporter: You had two members from the school district who said, 'We can take this child to safety.' No one on the ground understands why that couldn't have happened. There are really differing stories being told from DHS's side to the local folks who were watching this unfold.

If every Democrat voted NO on funding ICE, it would not have passed the House. But, 7 House Democrats voted to fund Trump's lawless, masked goons, so it passed.

Hakeem Jeffries refused to whip his members to vote against ICE funding. Genuinely unforgivable.
NEW: DHS appropriations bill funding ICE passes 220-207

7 Democrats voted YES on the bill:
- Jared Golden
- Marie Gluesenkamp Perez
- Henry Cuellar
- Tom Suozzi
- Laura Gillen
- Don Davis
- Vicente Gonzalez

One Republican voted NO: Thomas Massie

Grok's flood of nonconsensual fake sexualized images of real people wasn't an accident -- Musk encouraged it:

"The interest in Grok’s image-editing abilities exploded on Dec. 31, when Mr. Musk shared ... a SpaceX rocket with a woman’s undressed body superimposed on top."
We set out to determine how many images of women and girls Grok created during its nudifying spree. What we found was “industrial-scale abuse,” experts said. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/22/t...

Maybe I'll pull the clip out but at some point I get into the absolutely monstrous chasm between mod Dems/leadership and where the public is at on ICE. It's scarily unsustainable right now, and some of the scenarios for how it gets resolved are ugly. But it's energy that could be harnessed for good.
NEW Charting the Way Forward. The question isn't whether we need to abolish ICE, the question is how we get this done. This is not the kind of argument Dems are used to winning, but on this issue, failure is not an option.

No one respects NFL teams that has padded reg season records by beating up shit teams and then play like cowards (not to lose) against tougher opponents in the playoffs before getting bounced.

Why discourage Ds from attacking Trump on his strength when the public is abandoning him?
Yes it is crazy!! Attack his strength!! Look at what Rs do. Win the argument!

The practical problem is that if half the country-ish is feeling white hot rage over something, and Dems don’t address it, it reinforces the story that Dems are weak idiots who won’t lift a finger to protect people.
People are waving around 50/50 polling on abolish ICE and in the same poll Trump’s is like 30 points under water on affordability. It’s not at all crazy for professional politicians to think there’s a bigger advantage in talking about the latter!
